Two questions came up in a recent game. Here is the situation: A unit of inner circle nights with a character is facing straight forward. Ahead and to its left is a unit of 5 grave guard and a vampire, in order to charge this unit the knights must first wheel to face it. Ahead and slightly to the right is a single zombie aligned in such a way as to make the knights charge away from the grave guard if the knights contact it. The knights declare a charge on the zombie, and take the shortest path to contact which ends up facing them to the left in such a way that they will overrun into the grave guard.

Question 1: is the single zombie still a unit, which forces the charging knights to line up to him, thus ending up facing away from the grave guard, OR is he a skirmisher meaning he lines up to the knights?

Question 2: the rules for skirmishers say that the charging unit must charge the closets model, however they make no mention of alignment. May I charge the closet model on any line or must i try and make contact with the front of its base?

A single man-sized model is treated as a skirmisher, and so the Zombie would line up to you.

In the case of an actual unit of skirmishers, the only stipulation is that you make contact with the closest model; how you do this is up to you.

That doesn't seem right to me. By that logic the zombie would have 360 LOS. The rules for how you align to zombies shouldn't change based on if there are 1 or 2 of them.

Is there a specific rule stating that single RAF models become skirmishers when on their own? I don't think he becomes a skirmisher just because of that (that would be awesome for Ogres and the like) So you should be lining up to him, not the other way around.

Yes, there is a specific rule staitng the MAN sized single models are skirmishers - not Ogres as they are not mansized.

The Zombie is granted 360LOS when alone, as it is a single man sized model and is therefore a skirmisher. If there are 2 it becomes a standard RnF unit and is not a skirmisher.

Sorry if it doesnt make sense to you Slyde, but thems the rules. Itt actually DOES make sense - given that a US1 hero can be placed outisde a unit and would have 360 LOS, why shouldnt poor bob, lone Clanrat, have 360 LOS?

Ah, I didn't realize the FAQ covered this. Yep, one zombie is a skirmisher. My mistake.
