Hey guys,

I've got a techmarine with a servo harness... he's probably my most fiddly miniature; always breaking and generally being a nuisance...

I want to take him to my FLGS tomorrow, but I'm sick of him breaking, I have a carrier case but I am hesitant to cut up the foam; is there any way I can safely transport him in a box without his servo harness breaking? Every time I take him at least one of the little arms will fall off but he won't fit snugly ANYWHERE.

He's really been sent here to torment me ;P

Maybe a small cardboard box with a thick layer of bubble wrap on the bottom and a few laid over top of him. A box with a lid that slides on top would be best. They sell small cardboard boxes and wooden boxes with small metal latches on the front at hobby lobby, michaels and jo anns for really cheap. A packing, office or even walmart will have the roll out bubble wrap. I think a total of $10 USD will take care of him.

Hmm.. maybe transport him levitating in some kind of stasis sphere. He'll probly still find some way to fall apart though.

Pipboy got it. That's the best way to carry stuff. My friends C'Tan is a living evidence of this, he hasn't broke even one time while being carried like that (expect when I start looking at it and then it just broke by itself).
I, myself, have that fancy uber-cool-looking Techmarine myself, but I have almost never used him becuase of your problem and because I just canät build him!
And he sucks.

Put him in a large metal toolbox with some assorted, fist-sized rocks. Shake briskly for epic win.

Mine sits on the floor of the tackle box the rest of the army is in (he's on a 40mm base as he came with both in my box with the servitors). There are two neo magnets glued to the underside of his base, and a sheet of galvanised iron is riveted to the case. My bikes and terminators share the floorspace.

The 25mm based infantry are all packed into the cantilevered trays.

I carry my plastic models in some plastic seperated carrying cases, wrapping each model individually in toilet paper. (it ends up looking like a giant mummy-ork orgy. With my metal models, I wrap em in toilet paper and carry them in a cardboard box. Which produces mediocre results. But i bring superglue with me at all times to perfrom first aid as needed. Thats the best thing I can suggest if you dont have money for a fancier carring case. This post brought to you by toilet paper, the poor man's foam.

Drop him in a sock. Then if anyone gives you any lip about carrying around a sock, hit em with it.

That'll learn em...

Now you know why I want a plastic one. I have a small tin I got a watch in and keep it with at least 3-5" of foam around it and it still comes out with only one or two arms left on it. Most games I just tell the opponent that it has a full servo harnes. If they ask overwise I show them the box with the bits that fell off it.

But, it looks like pinning it might work, I havent tried yet though.

The first thing to do is to learn/apply pinning. Yeah, he's a fiddly little monster, and even if you use 2-part-epoxy with a superglue hardener, he's still going to break.

Secondly, you could easily buy some foamcore, or thick carboard, and build a box, with out without a lid, and some leftover foam from your trays to hold him in place. Then, put the small box into your storage solution of choice.

Good luck!
