Im looking to start building my Chimeras and any thing with a chimera chassis. I have several FW conversion kits and was wondering if the MKII kit has any different dimensions that might give me issues. Specifically side skirts, hellhound, medusa, and basilisk.

Also if anyone knows what exactly did they change? Are there any pics of sprues posted somewhere?

Dude I wouldn't worry about it.
The current Chimera model is the base for the Hellhound, Medusa and Bassy.

Well, the old Hellhound anyway. They're all basically the same. I don't think there even is an old model to get confused with.

I think he's questioning how much some of the details will change between the old and eventual new chimera.

Going by the new hellhound will give you much a sense of what you'll have to deal with. I haven't tried it with the hellhound, but I know the old Leman Russ and new Leman Russ kits are incompatable. They use different methods of attaching the tracks... but even if that didn't bother you, how the side wall of the track connects to the hull is different. You can't take the new hull and put it on the old tracks or vice versa without some cutting. The chimera will probably be the same way.

Where these become critical, and I think this is what the OP was trying to find out, is that this will make it that much harder to use Forge World parts, until such a time as they modify their masters. I know FW Leman Russ turrets don't work with the new hull, so I can only imagine their Chimera based kits will run into the same problem.

The only other thing to add is that considering FW kits often require a decent amount of work, making the neccesary modifications to the new kit shouldn't be too difficult.

When you say the new Russ are you just referring to the Demolisher kit or did they release the regular battle cannon equipped Russ as a new kit as well?

Seems there is some confusion. I have the FW kits for skirts, basilisk, and hellhound. Does anyone know if there will be problems using the Chimera MKII kit for the build? Keeping in mind these kits were designed for the MKI kit.

those kits are for the basic Chimera/bassilisk/old hellhound, not the new Hellhound

There is NO battle cannon in the new Leman Russ box.
It's the other goodies or nothing, I'm afraid.

You can get the older turret sprue by itself from GW though (along with the accessory sprue).

I'm thinking of getting a couple of chimeras before they do change the kits. I know from experience that with some plasticard and patience, I CAN get two vehicles from the one set of wheels and tracks.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
