Do power weapons get any bonuses against vehicles? If not, why not? I mean, rending weapons can get a bonus against vehicles and they only SOMETIMES penetrate armor. Power weapons ALWAYS do and I can't seem to find any bonus they get against vehicles. Am I missing something?

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men...

Nope. Power weapons do squat against vehicles.

Well, I think they should do something against vehicles if Rending weapons can. Oh well, I can finally sleep at night now that I know .

And I think I should be Queen of Belgium. Sadly, the rules are the rules and Power Weapons do not have any bonuses against vehicles.

Anyway, if you have power weapons, why are you assaulting a vehicle!

My question is why do you think they SHOULD do something against armor?

have you read the fluff? "A power weapon is sheathed in lethal haze of a disruptive energy field, which eats through armour flesh and bone with ease" I can well understand a new player asking "why can it chop through terminator armour without trouble but a poxy AV10 Ork vehicle can just take it?". When you think about it though the answer is simple, stabbing a hole in a tank doesn't do much. (Mind you power weapons counting as being AP1 would be nice ^_^ maybe we'll see that in the 6th Ed)

A new day, a new time zone.

Because stabbing someone with a sword center of mass with a power sword is going to hurt no matter what. Stabbing a vehicle center of mass with a sword... there's a whole lot more target there where it's not going to do much.

Is it just me or have there been 2 or 3 threads regarding this topic very recently? Was there a huge melee at a FLGS regarding power weapons I didn't read about in the news?

Gamers (even those clad in the thrice-blessed, holiest of holy, Three Wolf T-shirts) receive no armour save vs a power weapon, I can tell you that much.

well i have created a suit of tartan armour that ignores the effects of AP, power weapons and anything else that ignores armour saves. Now to try out my tartan's 6+ save.

Pssh yea Ive read the fluff... OBVIOUSLY TRI you missed the part in the fluff where ANYTHING with an armor value has a special packing greese (for ease of moving around in a space ship before you ask) that has mysterious anti-power weapon protection.
Dunno why they havnt just globbed it on themselves but hey, I dont write the fluff

To OP;

Warhammer 40K is a constant compromise between realism, playability and gamebalance. A reference to how a given situation would work in real life might not be too relevant. Suspension of disbelief is key in understanding the rules, just as it is in enjoying a fictional movie. In essence the "reality" of WH40k is defined by the rules, not the real life Earth physics.

The fluff is a literary tool used to tell good stories and set a mood. Nothing more.
Drop Pods land in a storm of fire, Orks can crush a mans skull in his hand and Genestealers moves so fast Marines even miss them. This is not rules and should not be confused as such.
