Hey guys just womdering if there are any rules for doing sea battles for WFB. Im not talking about Man o War either Im talking about ship on ship with minis on board to represent crew and warmachines to act as the weapons. I could come up with my own rules, or adopt them from a pre-existing game. Ive found some nice models at 1/50th and 1/72nd scale that may do the job.

Not exactly, if that was the case then itd be Man O War. Im looking to go big, not small with this so if anyone has given this a go or ever seen it done let me know.

Sounds neat. Mayhaps you could combine ship movement rules from Man'O'War or Uncharted Seas and have everyone move as skirmishers atop boats. Or something.

The crew member from each ship would move and fight like warhammer skirmish, you know that old rule set from back in the day. As for the weapons fireing at ships use simple BS and the ships would be obviously large targets, seeing as how they will be larger then dragons its only right. I might come up with some sort of table or something for so called crit hits on ship, or give ships so called hard points. Havent made up my mind just yet but it is comeing together.

There was a ship construction and rules set in one of the old WFB generals or seige books. My local store had a whole summer campaign with everyone building a ship and fighting on the high seas.

Only problem was Dwarfs and Empire cannons blowing everyone else out of the water. Sea battles really favor gunlines over everything else.

If you go for the naval thing, try to limit the artillary a bit.

My Local GW had ship battles all month and I had made a boat for it but wasnt able to participate... Ill try and pick up the rules tommorow when I go and post them for you... They had different boat sizes... Small boats had 1 warmachine. Medium had 3. Large had 5. Each boat depending on size had a number of krew... some assigned to certain things... Each race had its own stats for krew. I dont remmember the rest..... But Ill grab them for you tommorow!

Its not amazing but I like it Its much better then some of the other boats I saw at my local GW... So hopefully I will win the competitions... Still got to paint the crew though D:

Rules were indeed in the General's Compendium, with some extras online. I'd recommend that book to anyone, even given that it's for last edition. Just a lot of great gaming stuff there.

There is a set of rules for ship to ship fighting for Warhammer Historical. I think it's based on last edition of Warhammer, but it might be good to adapt.

Excellent. Hope you're enjoying the book. General's compendium was easily one of my favorite GW purchases.

In the Webway.

This sounds awesome! I'd like to hear it.

I remember reading rules for a DE sea raiding party somewhere where the DE were invading an Empire coastline from boats. The empire came with 2 great cannons (IIRC), which didn't count to the amount of special (i think they're special) choices you could make, e.g. you could still choose another three special units (it was a 1250pt game).

I think that the empire had two turns of shooting with thier artillery to try to gun down as many ships as possible, there was a chart that told you the damage on the ship (i think ships used the normal wound system) and what happened to the surviving crew afterwards.

I'll try and find it for you
