Apologies If I offend, but DO NOT use
GW's brush on paints for Forgeworld stuff. It will chip and flake off and just makes everything bad in the end. Same goes for their's or anyone elses standard spray paints.
After having done dozens of forgeworld pieces (not bragging, just stating qualification to offer advice) I have found the following to work the best every time.
1. Clean all pieces with an automotive degreaser to remove mould release, or use a special resin model cleaner (available at
FLGS)
2. Clean with soap and water, just to make sure.
3. Prime model with Automotive primer, usually available in grey or rust red. The key to this primer is it is very smooth and light, but aheres very very well to all surfaces and provides a great base to start from.
4. Either re-prime with your chosen colour via brush or airbrush.
5. Paint model like you normally would from this point on.
They key to the preparation is the auto primer. It makes it so your paint won't flake off later and provides an amazing basecoat to start with, and its quite cheap (buy the good stuff though, not much more expensive ~$6-8 CDN).
Best of luck with your models and if you're in a bind, foundation paints work wonders over resin, but do not water them down.
