I painted up all my marines without finishing the bases. It seems like it would be a huge pain to either: a) take each model of its base, paint it, and re-attach or b) paint around my completed model and hope not to ruin anything.

I was looking into possibly shelling out for some Dragon Forge bases to make things easier. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Or should I just suck it up and finish them myself?

Thanks for any input.

I havn't dealt with Dragon Forge Bases but gonna use dark art minature bases. What I have done was started painting the model on the normal base(the ones that come in the package with the model) while I paint the base its gonna be on. That way you can snap the base off when the model is done and put it on the pretty base.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

i have been usin' a lot of Dragonforge bases lately...
they are a good price, and have some nice detail...
you really have to find the right spot on each base, for each different mini, as there is so much detail..
i find that it is much better to paint the mini off of the base...
just put a pin in the mini's foot, after you have found the spot you want him to be on the base...
drill a hole in the base, for the pin to glue into later...
paint 'em both up, glue 'em together, and you're good to go...

cheers

Dragon Forge makes fantastic stuff! I have a pile of their bases for my IG army. Top quality products and very easy to work with. I got my bases very quickly and without issues as well.
