Are Reinforced Rams or Armor Plates needed on a Trukk? I know to use RPJ on Trukks, but do I need anything else?

Also, is it smart to put any weapons on a Transport Battle Wagon? Or just use a Deff Rolla and Armor Plates and RPJ?

On a transport battle wagon a few big shootas might be nice to prevent it from being immobilized on a weapon destroyed roll

Armor Plates are nice as they allow you trukk to keep going but In my humble opinion not really needed as if you are hit, the chances of a Stunned result is 1/6, I would just use more than one trukk.

Reinforced Rams are nice, If you want to have them be a factor in the late game... They allow you to tank shock small units and push them together...

I strongly recommend reinforced rams, as I need to cross difficult terrain all the time, and tank shocking with trukks after they drop of their passengers is fun. I usually give any transport at least a bigshoota or something, immobilization sucks, and I feel an extra gun is more point effective than grot riggers. (I know it only helps if they roll a 3 and not a 4+ but whatever)

For Trukks, at the absolute level, the only "needed" upgrade probably is just the RPJ. Everything else is icing as your points allow.

I always go with the reinforced ram on mine because usually I play on fairly scenery heavy tables and the option to just floor it and go through terrain rather then around it feels very Orky (and gawd knows I need that re-roll considering my habit of rolling ones on the terrain check). I'm also a proponent of adding rokkits to my Trukks - that way, paired with the ram, after they've dropped off their cargo they become a fast little weapon platform that your opponent has to debate about killing or ignoring and the rokkit helps make the value call harder and has proven useful to me in the past.

As far as BattleWagons I agree with the other posters, you should almost always have at *least* one weapon on their just to avoid the first weapon destroyed becoming an immobilized. I usually run a pair of big shootas on my transports for almost just that reason.

I too like the rokkits on trukks when ive got the points, I usually put a mob with a rokkit launcha boy in regular trukks and put mobs with big shootaz/ no special weapons in the rokkit trukks. I feel this gives me a little bit of flexibility and hopefully keeps my opponents guessinng where the rokkits are gonna be. I find that when my rokkit-trukks survive long enough to hit the front lines and unload, they become a real nuisance to my opponent.

Your orks just have to really believe that the deffrollas can ram vehicles. That and wishing on a star-child helps too.

The general consensus of the rules is that no, it does not. You may find pages upon pages of explanation as to why by using the search function on this site. You can tank shock and mow down non-vehicles quite well with it though.
