If you could only read one Black Library Omnibus, What would it be?
I'd have to go with the imperial guard omnibus because they aren't just the imperium's meat shields, and they actually win the fight sometimes!

The soul drinkers omnibus was pretty good. The 3rd book in it wasn't the greatest, but the first 2 gave some nice insight on the chapter and their fall from grace.

I'd go with the Soul Drinkers one as well. I like stories that take a different slant to the norm...

Although not really an omnibus, I think the Eisenhorn Trilogy is as good as anything the BL has done.

Ciaphus Cain is the bomb-diggity. Saves his own skin AND looks the hero. My kind of man.

Hmm, I think it's a draw between the Gaunt's Ghost Omnibus and Ravenor Omnibus. I really loved the Eisenhorn trilogy, but I think that Guant's Ghosts does a really good job in describing 99.99% of all Imperial warfare, while the Ravenor series does a fantastic job of describing the daily life of Imperial citizens. Epic heroes, Space Marines, and Inquisitors are grand, but sometimes the mundane can be pretty darn cool, too!

Definitely the Ciaphas Cain book. I finished that thing in a day!

Ciaphas Cain omnibus all the way. After that omnibus there wasn't much reason to read other books with him though. They all kind of blend together and pale in comparison to those first three.

The Space Wolves omnibus is about the same. I really enjoyed the first three books, but I couldn't even make it halfway through Wolfblade or whatever it's called.

Imperial Guard omnibus. It was (apart from the wierd Catachan one) surprisingly enjoyable. My favourite was the young recruit from the Agri-world.

I do want to read Ciaphas Cain though.

Other, as I think Gaunts Ghosts, the founding is ace.

The Ravenor Omnibus is the best thing published by black library, hands down. It's on a whole 'nuther level when compared to anything else.

For me, it has to be the Gaunt's Ghosts omnibus. Been reading them since First and Only came out, and I love not only Dan Abnett's style of writing, but the humanity he portrays. Personally, there's only so many pages I can read of superhuman space marines chewing through a Chaos cult. I find the human side of the Imperium, and particularly the Imperial Guard, fascinating, and Abnett manages to delve into that side so expertly =)

I'll stop now before I reveal myself as the Abnett fanboy that I am Though I have to admit I do love the Ciaphas Cain books too =D

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

I love the Gaunt's Ghosts stuff, but I had already read Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe's series (to which it bears what I'll call "a passing resemblance"). Between that, and the way that Eisenhorn goes neatly from start to finish, were enough to give Eisenhorn the win in my book.

Im a Dan Abnett nut, but Im reading the Space Wolf omnibus right now... and I think its really good.

William King did a fantastic job with Gotrek and Felix and I was glad to give him a chance with the first real exposure to Space Wolf fluff Ive read.

So... one for other, but if I could vote more times Eisenhorn would be on there again.
