Some of the Gold winners must be those " have to be there to see it" type , because even Bronze winner looks better.

That and seems like bigger the base = bigger chance to win

Yeah, the 40k monster gold (battlesuit) was extremely unimpressive to me.

Is it just me or is the Slayer Sword winner not that great? Yes, the modelling is superb, but the actual painting is very similar to a lot of the top models and arguably of a lower standard than some of them. Since Golden Demon is a painting competition, why did this one win the slayer? Not that I can paint anywhere near that standard.....

I can't believe the Space marine took silver in the Open category! I remember seeing that take shape over on CMON and it's one of the most stunning model's I've ever seen.

Me too. Simply a stunning model. The winner of the open category is good, but it's hard to work out the detail from the photos.

Also, the bronze winning Zhufor for 40k single miniature must be so much better in real life than the photos do justice. I found it on CMON and it's just stunning:

That striking scorpion wraithlord is aces! Nice painting in the duels as well, and props on those large scale pieces, neat to see.

But yea, not feeling the sword winner either. Amongst other things, the gun is sillily out of scale

A lot of the 1, 2, 3 comes down to personal preference. A demon is a demon for many of these guys ^_^.

I would also think that photos of a model with a lot of metallic aren't going to show a lot of the subtleties in the metal work.

All in all a great showing for the Demon. Grats to everyone who picked one up ^_^.

Really? Did you see it in the flesh? Did you realise that it is a totally upscaled and modelled suit that dwarfs the original, but retains scale?
Did you realise that the apparently airbrushed camo pattern was in fact hand painted?

I can't stand GW's photography. You would think they'd have a better set up for that by now...

All of the entries I've seen outside of the Golden Demon official photos are fantastic, even those that might have looked otherwise bland. The terrible job they do photographing them doesn't do ANY of them justice.

Grats on the gold , though what you just said is quite stuckup.
Dont blame plastic surgeon for what he said , he was commenting it based on the photos he sees.

If the photo doesnt do it justice , blame it on the photographer.
