I've only played this vs chaos dwarfs and I'm going to a friendly tournament next Saturday, just wondering what DD thinks.

Welcome to the game! Hope you find the High Elves as entertaining and rewarding as I do.

Anyhow, some pointers -

First - you only need 2 Core choices at this points level - I would really recommend that you take advantage of that. In that sense, I'd recommend dropping one of the units of archers and keeping the spearelves (though I would recommend increasing their numbers to 20 or 21).

The BSB - where were you thinking of putting him? In either event, the Lion Standard can be given to the unit standard bearer instead, which frees the BSB up to take a bigger banner (the Battle Banner is ace). Also, if you have 2 points to spare, just give this guy Dragon Armor. It's a decent little investment in the event people shoot fire in the BSB's direction.

Silver Helms - Ok, these guys are really the weakest choice in your list at the moment. For about 1/3rd extra points per model, you can get Dragon Princes which are at least 2x as good as the Silver Helms. While this does lead to Dragon Princes being seen in nearly every HE list, they are simply a much much better unit than Silver Helms at the moment. If you dropped these guys and got a 6-man unit of DPs (personally I wouldn't put command on them), you'd have some points left-over to add some heavier magic (bump the scroll caddy to lvl2, maybe fit the Bannery of Sorcery). Hope this helps.

Usualy the BSB goes with the White Lions while the white lions hero goes with the spearmen to give them stubborn. Also the only reason I'm running SH's at the moment is becuase I don't have the Dragon Princes models (way expensive >_< )

Heh, I kind of figured.

Another thought that I've been recently considering with regards to units of SH's is to have a block of 10 naked Silver Helms (no shields) and have them running around. Sure, they're 210 points all in all, but they still have 3+ saves and M8. Not as mobile as 2 units of 5, but cheaper and not ignorable by the enemy. Also unlikely to die from one turn's shooting either.

In regards to your list I agree with alot of Jins points.

Give the banner of the lion to the unit and run him naked you'll get +2 CR that way and free up for the battle banner if you feel you need it.

Silver Helms just give these guys a musician and have them flank units your engaging from the frnt with ur lions/spearelves.

Give the scroll cad the silverwand frees up 25pts and gives an extra spell.

Then I would bump up the Spears to 25 it's a big unit then and can afford to tale casualties.

Also please please give the Archmage the book of Hoeth you will learn to love it it's pricey but well worth the points.

Nice list though and a nice strong Chracian theme running through it I hope it does you well at tourney.

Which do you think is a better army choice tomb kings or high elves? In addition i think the army list is pretty solid but i also agree with some of jin's points

Personally I think Tomb Kings can be nastier than HE, but are limited in combos. Destroyer of Eternity lord, 3 tomb priests, 2 screaming skull catapults, carrion, 2 tomb scorpions seems to be the best combo out there, with having the potential for 4 magical , flaming catapult shots at -1 leadership can be a real game breaker. If you know how to play them right, Tomb Kings are plain nasty still.

Yeah plus silver helms have to pay for shields extra. Almost there alone makes Dragon Princes a better deal, they come with a shield! Their leader can have 25 pts of wargear, and you can get a 50 pt standard. Much better unit.
