A while back I showed off some painted em4 Space Rangers using a "speed painting" technique. Now here's how it looks with something a little more complicated, namely Chaos Marauders:

They won't win me any painting competitions, but I don't think they are too bad for a very small amount of effort. Here are the steps:

Primed with cheap white primer
Delta Ceramcoat Roman Stucco: flesh
Delta Ceramcoat Opaque Red: pants
Apple Barrel Blue Stoneware: metal
DecoArt Cinnamon Brown: harness straps, hair, and bases
Delta Ceramcoat Spice Tan: weapon handles, forearm and calf straps
Delta Ceramcoat Ivory: horns and skulls
Delta Ceramcoat Brown Velvet: boots
Dipped in Olympic Special Pecan
Sprayed with Krylon Matte Finish
Flocked with Games Workshop flocking
And that’s it. I got four painted in the space of two evenings, another day to dip, and a final day to spray with the matte finish and flock.

Very nice work. When someone says speed painting though, my mind tends to think of the 'half an hour per model' sort of time frame. Although i guess if you only got 1 hour free each evening.....

I tend to spend about an hour or so an evening if I can get it painting or building terrain, maybe even less. And I'm a very, very slow painter normally, so getting four guys done in basically two evenings isn't too bad. The dip takes something like six hours to set--rush it and you'll get tacky fingerprints on the finish. I usually give it a whole day just to make sure. So two days painting, one day dipping, and another five minutes spraying the matte finish and you're done. If I was really keeping up speed and painting other miniatures while the dip was trying on another lot I could probably get a regiment done in a week.

Hey Witterquick,

Since you seem to be down with the craft paints, what's a good
Apple Barrel color for stone? I have a big project to do and I
don't want to use expensive dropper bottles on it.
