I was just reading that long dwarf update thread below, and it seems to me that there are 4 options for making dwarfs more competitive in movement:

Increase dwarfs to M4 (not viable imo)
Decrease the speed of the enemy through artillery and / or anvil
Change deployment rules
Add something fast to the list

A random idea I've had that does not involve dwarf cavalry (which I think is extremely unlikely) is simply copying over great eagles from HE book. They could be toned down a bit as they're obviously covering an army weakness, maybe 2W?

This is not entirely against all dwarf fluff, as there are eagles on the current dwarf cover.

There have been some vague rumours about Dwarfs with flying packs like in warhammer online, but whether this would be just for master engineers or a unit I don't know. I actually like the idea of having a gyro upgrade where you can carry 10 troops and drop them off for a flank charge.

So more gyrocopters?

It could work, they could make them into 2 for 1 rare, beef up the strength and allow the master engineer the option to ride one.

Then throw in some bonus rules for being in a flying squadron.

It still wouldn't boost them overall as an army, and if they nerfed the anvil it would force players into taking them. But it could work, especially if they could move whole units (up to 10 troops each).

Its definitely interesting. I think the eagles have too much utility crossover with the gyro, though. Also, what all are you thinking for transportation? I don't believe there's a precedent in the WHFB game for how that would work.

I think you could get a lot of mileage out of the current setup by permitting some of the movement affecting runes to target Immune to Psychology targets. MR of Challenge has lost some utility with so many Daemons and Vamps on the tourney scene. Even against armies that aren't those big fellas, many of the units you'd actually like to target are ItP anyhow.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
