I was thinking making army of orks that is painted and modelled with a cartoonish style (bright colors, characteful nobs, splinter cell kommandos). The orks also like stuff that is flying, so the army would be themed like that. Is this a totally stupid idea not worth to start?

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I don't see why you shouldn't do the army. The Orks were the comic army when they first came out but they went away from that. So in the end you are just making them more truly Orky.

The great thing about orks is that you can make them anyway you want.
Mine are Crazy!!!

I feel like most orks already look somewhat cartoonish. I'm currently doing some test figures to decide how I'll paint mine and the only way they looked serious to me is with darker, more muted skin. If you do the bright green that seems popular, they're already half way there. Bright colors, bold highlights, and a couple of silly poses and you've got yourself an army of toons.

I'm actually now picturing a series of Roadrunner-esque desert dioramas with a cartoony ork (several, actually, to allow for a variety of poses), maybe a mek, setting up ACME (looted, of course) traps for a SM sergeant or the like. Numerous Awesome Points to anyone with the resources to do this before I can. I'm broke and busy, what with trying to graduate college and all...

Blacklining sounds cool.

I started Orks in Second Edition WH40K and they were VERY colourful and comical back then. They still have comic appeal now, but the models are also bigger and meaner. I am thinking about making a very colourful old-style Ork Army now that I am back in the hobby. It will have blue for Lootas, yellow for Meganobz, red for fast vehicles, and black and red for Goff Nobz/'Ard Boyz.

Stuff like that.

I would definitely go for the 2nd edition/Rogue trader style of Orks pretty much every miniature was over the top and cartoonish

I would love to see some old school orks in there too, along with the awesome bright old colour schemes.

Too many armies to count now.. mainly all 40k and AoS
