When say a squad of aspect warriors is deployed, what would be best to lead them?
i currently have a squad of dark reapers, which i plan to join with Mugan Ra, their pheonix lord. Unfortunately he is also a formidable close combat opponent so would it be a waste to join him with this squad or not? mind the fearless rule applies to a squad with their pheonix lord.
or rather would it be more effective to join a squad of aspect warriors with a autarch?

Maugan Ra with harlies with veil of tears.
Hard to target with ranged weapons and he can shoot or charge into combat in a reactionary role when needed.
That's one idea.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I think the phoenix lords are overpriced, so I'd say Autarch.
Whats wrong with just taking an Exarch?

Because Maugan Ra is just too cool
Put him with his little brother the Death Jester so they can have a merry time (aka put him with the damn harlies with veil of tears). Not a fun time being shot at by that, and your opponent would want some decent CC to go toe to toe with them.

Awesome Autarch

Karandras in a seer squad with a fortuneseer is brutal. Not exactly fluffy, but works like a charm.
He and Maugan Ra are the best, IMO.

That's an absolutely devastating combo, but I think a PL cannot join a unit other than her Aspect.
However, I do not have my codex with me.
Well, Phoenix Lords are overpriced as already said.
But if you want to go for one then I'd opt for Maugan Ra or Karandras (joining an outflanking Scorpions units).

Mr. Ra costs 195 and with a minimal squad of harlies (Shadowseer, death jester & 3 kisses) coming to 142, you have a pretty shooty and hitty strike force for a mere 337pts. Totally independent of the main force.

Well, you cannot assign a Warlock to a squad of Aspect Warriors.
The DR Exarch with her cover ignoring weapon is a nice add-on, but not a must have.

ive checked my codex, the pheonix lords are independent characters unless they are attached to their respective aspect warriors. so for kanadras i would imagine him to just tag along really and let the seers do their work.
the same would apply to muagan ra, he would simply folllow the harlies at a distance to provide cover with the death jester.
currently my army consists of:
HQ
Eldrad Ulthran
2 Warlocks
PL Muagan Ra
Elites
Harlie troupe (8 units; includes death jester, shadowseer and troup leader)
3 wraith guards
Troops
Rangers (5 units)
Heavy Support
Dark Reapers (4 units)
any suggestions, i was considering replacing the reapers with scorpions and their PL, but then i would loose and heavy support cept for the rangers.
wraith guards are accompanied with Eldrad and the warlocks. Muagan Ra was originally to stay with the reapers. ideas?

Looks quite good.
I'd drop the Warlocks, two of them are pointless.
