Hello, Dakkaites, I am starting a club in my local Highschool, and I have all I need to begin, except I am confused as to how to run this thing. I am thinking of making it based on A Tale of Four Gamers, except there will be six of us. I think the first session would be about learning about the different races, then players select which army they will have. I already have one person wanting to play skaven, and I would like to play Empire, I just want to know how I get everyone into this, without giving them too much?

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

What do you mean by giving them too much?
If everyone is starting out, I have found that an escalation campaign can be quite fun. Depending on people's budgets start with a single hero, then a hero and a core etc. expanding a little bit each month. Set bonus points for if they have the models painted and try to keep point values similar. While it is not a great representation of how the game actually plays it is a great way to keep excitement up while collecting an army, and does not require a large cash expenditure from the beginning

"They just told me to wing it and that it would be cool, but obviously it is not"
"You can't have everything is! Nothing isn't!"

A fun and easy way to introduce people into the hobby is a “warbands” league. The maximum point limit is 500 for each army, so it is not to expensive to get into hobby, nor is it over whelming to paint such a small force. After the league, then you will have a very nice starting force to expand as you see fit and within your play style.
