Hello! This is a list I'll be running against a fellow IG player at a local store. I'm wondering if someone could let me know if it will do well against melta vets (with grenadiers and one will likely be transported via skimmer), a vendetta and two LRMBTs.

I have never played a game before, so I don't have much of a strategy - I suppose I'll form a sort of gunline, while my vets scoot around and attack the tanks. or Vendetta. The AV14 will be an issue, and that's why I have the LRMBTs and LCs scattered throughout the list.

Not a bad list really- just have something handy to back up ur tanks, cause he really has nothing else to melt (he'l just be wasting ap1 on ur 5+ armour so good deal for you!).

Maybe consider some more ap4 stuff to counter grenadiers carapace armour. maybe grenades would be more effective than flamers in pcs. depends how you use them.

the list looks pretty balanced against other armies too, good luck!

It looks like a good start. I would recommend somehow giving a Lascannon to the CCS, if you aren't going to have them ride around in a Chimera. Their BS 4 should be capitalized on.

You could then use the HWS points on something else if you wanted.

Otherwise, I don't think I can suggest much more without completely re-doing the concept. Good luck!

My Forces:
DA Consecrators- 2000 points' worth, currently shelved

Imperial Guard - about 2000 points' worth, soon to be expanded

Christmas Orks - 1750 points' worth

I'm open to suggestions, as long as it doesn't break the bank.

Sorry to bump this, but if there's another suggestion, I'd be happy to see it. I'm currently piecing my models together, and I don't want ot have to pry some models apart to make them something else. Thanks in advance!

give the melta to the ccs. No reason to hold it in the pcs and have it firing with a lower bs.

Plasma Gun in this case is BS3 S7 AP2, let's say you were shooting a Space Marine. 24" shot would be 1.00*.50*.83=.42 chance of a wound. This is not including any cover that marine would have. (5+ would bring you down to .27; 4+ would be .21) Now consider you have a .17 chance to just blow yourself up. Now rapid fire would give you a .84 chance of getting a single unsaved wound (again, there is cover to consider), but a .33 chance of losing the guardsman. Plasma is a good weapon, but maybe not the best choice on just a guardsman. There is a good chance you are going to have a lot of dead plasma guard by the end of the battle, and you will be left with a lot of lasguns that aren't doing a whole lot.
