What is the best alternitive ww2 game or rules system around? what are the best models to represent various factions and where can i get them?

Westwind Miniatures is a good one, there's Darkson Designs and that's pretty much all I know of off the top of my head.
Westwind, mind, their game system also incorporates standard WWII tech alongside the wacky and occult. They make models for most of it too.

Theres one out there called AE WW2.
They have quite a few different models, and seem to me more of a skirmish game then large scale table game.
