Ok guys i know i'm a bit early with this considering it won't be until next summer but i am going to go to WW. i really want to see it! I am just curiouse about the night life down there, id have to stay over night and a night in a new city just screams for beer and dancing! So anyone whos close by or lives down there could you tell me what the locals are like (chances are i'm going to be on my own so i don't wanna be out getting drunk and risk ending up in the "wrong" place) if its easy to navigate the town, and how dificult it would be to get to and from WW. thank you very much for your time xxxxx

I have been to Nottingham and Warhammer World a few times.

Warhammer World is cool, but if you aren't going to be having any games then don't expect to be there for too long. The bar and the miniatures hall are good, but the rest of it is essentialy a very large themed store and gaming room.

Nottingham is a great place to visit and I have never had any trouble on a night time, just remember that as a big University town (like Bristol) there are two very different sorts of places to drink, the student hang outs which tend to be fine and then there are the chavy cess pits which are ok if you are looking for a lady of negotiable affection but not so good if you don't want a black eye.

Nottingham castle and the cave tour is well worth the entry fee, but Sherwood forest is one of the biggest dissapointments you will ever experience so don't bother, all the trees are smaller than those at the local park and you are forced around a roped walkway, meaning you can't wander off in peace and quiet.

If curry is your thing then 4550 miles from Deli is just about the best Indian in the city. There are lots of other good places to eat too.

The whole gun crime thing is massively over exagerated, this was for the most part confined to one crappy part of the city and unless you intend to go swaggering about like a gangster in the wrong part of town you have nothing to worry about

Gun crime capital of the UK.

Warhammer World is on the outskirts of the city, about a fiver in a cab. You can walk there..but I wouldn't recommend it, especially at night, the canal witht eh path you'd have to go along is a bit..dodgy in parts.

The town centre is quite compact, much of it pedestrianiased as well. They have/are building a tram system..but I've never used it..only been forced into massive detours due to the construction of it. It's a big student city so there's a lot going on. loads of bars, clubs etc.

Hooters is very popular with the GW store managers when they get dragged to HQ once a month, I would suggest that the "pit and pendulum" might be more your scene perhaps. linky

I'd also recommend Ye olde trip to Jerusalem as worth a visit too.

The "Tales of Robin Hood" was actually pretty cool... being a massive geek I was more chuffed with the actual costume of Herne the HUnter from thebesttvshowever ..but last I heard that was going to shut.

But..Nottingham is a cool place to go out. That said Bugman's is worth a visit, staff are always friendly and cool.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Lively, student feel to the place.

If you're into Alternative music - check out Nottingham Rock City. They have gigs as well as club-nights there.

Surely London is more dangerous than Nottingham? Although, if you're rich there may be a chance of being robbed and your wealth given to 'the poor'. Arf!

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.
