Subject: Dark Reaper Exarch: Crack Shot or Fast Shot?

Putting together a possible tourney list and I'd like to try using my Reapers, but I'm in a quandry as to which power to get or whether I should take both. Still in the planning stages at this point, so feel free to make any recommendations. This will he a footslogging force since I don't have any mech (officially anyway - haven't checked with the TO if he'll accept my converted dinos as legit) so keep that in mind while giving advice. Probably run "Eldrad", the avatar, two wraithlords, and a bunch of guardian defenders, storms, and jetbikes along with aspects for flavor.

If he has EML, fast shot is better as you're going to want to kill vehicles with it.
In your list, I would suggest the EML to get some good anti-tank in the army.
If you have a tempest launcher, then crack shot is better, as the ignore cover+AP3+reroll wounds does more damage than an extra shot against almost all infantry.

That's the direction I was leaning. I've got two w'lords that I'll run with lances and EML for some AT and I was going to take the Reapers for anti-MEQ, which would count for about 50-75% of the armies I'd play against in the club.

You do realize that each of those wraithlords has only about a 20% chance to destroy a rhino, right?
Two EML/BL wraithlords is not going to be enough anti-tank to really utilize your dark reaper tempest launcher.

If He's filled up his heavys he's going to have to rely on fire dragons or at the very least vypers with missile launchers

WL hit on a 3+, BL's/EML penetrate A11 on a 4+, and so long as I score a stunned, immobilized, wrecked or destroyed result I've kept them from moving, right? One or two of them anyway... I'm worried about the Vindi spam players though.
I was thinking of using warp spiders as back up AT, which I've heard they're moderately successful at - jumping to shoot at rear armor. They'd probably be better than dragons which are likely to get shot down before getting close enough to hit anything.
Speaking of dragons, in my foot slogging list I planned to use them behind a squad of harlies for cover moving forward, benefitting from the cover save. What do you thnk of this? I'd love to put them in a serpent, but alas, I'll have to make do.
Not having "official" tanks isn't quite enough to make me wish I played craftworld, but it's close.

But it's going to be a foot-slogging force. I think we all know what happens to foot-sloggin fire dragons.

Dark Reapers are an anti- MEQ unit and not an anti-tank unit.
The shooting will be (partly) diluted if the Exarch takes an eml.

Crack shot and tempest launcher, definitely. It justs lets the squad concentrate on exactly what it needs to do, killing any and all T4, 3+Sv troops.

It all depends on the exarch's weapon is. EML =fast shot. Tempest launcher= crack shot. Shuriken cannon= fast shot.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy. |

I have the model but does any one actually use the Shuriken Cannon?

I doubt it. I think the option is simply there because the model exists. It's obviously the weakest choice, behind just sticking with the Reaper Launcher.

I'd rather stick with the reaper launcher ...

Which is what I meant Otherwise I would have said "aside from" or "besides" rather than "behind." In the list of choices, it is "behind" sticking with the reaper launcher.

crackshot is best. Ignoring cover is big in 5th.
