Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

I only really know the gist of it. Red robed mars priests that worship machines. They keep Land Raiders and Titans working.
Wouldn't they make a great army?

Anywho I tried reading the actual book "Mechancium" but it bored me
Do these guys do more then just tinker around with machines??
And I know evil Tech Priests often become Obliterators.

I've sold so many armies. :(

Tech priest engineers (caled enginseers in the imperial guard) go around hunting for lost bits of technology, or STC's. They command legions of Skitarrii, which are basically Guardsmen but with bionic upgrades to make them tougher and stronger than you're average grunt. They also keep the void dragon on Mars-If they let that thing wake up, then Gak's gonna happen.

And yes, they would make a great army.

You'd think that a game that's storyline focuses on Humanity would already have a codex for the other Human empire

They basically search for a working STC because it's their holy grail. They have some printed ouit versions, but one of their main goals is to find a working one.
There are also some variations to their religion but it all comes down to trying to find the physical manifestation of the Machine God, or it's avatar the Omnisiah.

They keep most of the Imperial machinary running and the Titan Legion is actually run by them instead of the Imperial Navy if I remember right. The Imperium actually has to get their permission to use a Titan or even an Exterminatus missile as they see both as sacred relics.

They also have a department for researching other races and another for researching the technology of the other races. But, instead of reverse engineering the technology they just try to find out how it works so the Imperial forces know what to expect when they come across the weapons. They also destroy them after the research is completed because their religion basically leads them to see the alien technology as kind of heretical. I guess there would be small sections that would welcome the technology though, but most see it as an abomination to the Machine God.

But, no they don't do much more than tinker with machines.

May agree with the rest of youre statement, but beg to differ between a "knight fights a dragon" and "emperor fights a c'tan".
The first one is a quote, the second one is assumed but unconfirmed.
Whilst a dragon is seen as a threat, it must not be a ...dragon. Sharing a name or part of it, doesnt makes two beeings the same.

The interest of the necrons on the noctis labyrinthus makes is possible to assume its some sort of C'tan.
And the creature is awake, but bound. Its guardian was part of the mechanicum.
Doesnt mean the adeptus mechanicus is directly involved in guarding it. Seems more like they dont know whats kept in these forbidden
zone.

Now, the mechanicum is collecting data and runs the forgeworlds. They are a bit defensive and wont come out to fight (except the Titan legions who support the IG and SM ) but rather do their own thing. Could be a fascinating sight if GW does an Ad Mech army.
Would include some really big and nasty toys. But also rather boring tactics. Everything calculated and aimed at best effect.
Not sure how expendable troops and absolute destructive weapons may turn out in rules.

As has been stated above, the mechanicum are a major faction within the Imperium, probably the most powerful one at that. Not only do they have almost total control over the research, maintenance and manufacture of higher-grade technology, but they also have considerable military assets in the Skitarii legions that defend the forge worlds, are sent along in Explorator fleets and form the infantry of the Titan legions.

The Adeptus Mechanicus is split across many forge worlds, each of which is ruled by a fabricator-general. A forge world's ruling elite consists of the most senior techpriests. Enginseers are actually fairly low-ranking members of the Cult Mechanicus and would not lead an Explorator mission (those would generally be led by the more unorthodox/radical high-ranked priests so they're out of the way). The holy grail of the Mechanicus is indeed a working STC device. The reanson for that is that such a device could create efficient blueprints for pretty much anything you asked it. These STC machines were generally sent along with human colonists far in the past, along with machines that could make what was described in the blueprints. A complete blueprint is found maybe once in a millenium. Most STC-designed items in the Imperium are pieced together from parts of blueprints.

The Titan Legions are semi-independent forces of the titans and their Skitarii support. They come from one forge world (where there are always some titans of that legion for defense), but usually most of a titan legion is abroad to support Imperial forces in major engagements.

The skitarri themselves are augmented infantry (from the fragmented fluff on them, it seems there are various types with varying degrees of augmentation) who are generally modified to be pretty much fearless. They have access to various types of vehicles and artillery, probably dependent on their parent forge world.

The Mechanicus itself also has access to some of the most powerful ground-based engines of destruction in the 41st millenium: Ordinati (singular Ordinatus). These are one-off vehicles whose function is the deilvery of its main weapon. These weapons vary from multiple massive missiles (larger than deathstrikes) to very powerful gravitic weapons to nova cannons (one of the most powerful weapons mounted on a few types of Imperial starships). The common theme is absolutely devastating firepower.

There is quite a lot of community interest in the Mechanicus, and I myself am always on the lookout for more info.

The biggest thing to remember about the Adeptus Mechanicus is that while they run the gamut of all types of scientific field from engineers to doctors to metallurgists to geneticists and beyond, they are NOT scientists. The scientific method would be absolutely foreign to them, and likely be considered heretical.

They are religious zealots.

Technology is treated with a great deal of dogma and ritual, with the more important bits of knowledge carefully guarded by secret sects and only known to the highest members of the orders. These guys are called techpriests for a reason, I mean a full-fledged member has the title of Magos even.

Just use the Tau Codex for the Ad Mech would be played pretty much the same way

better guns and armour than Ig

same toughness and strength

High tech doodads

sounds Ad Mech to me

I wish my lawn was emo...
Then it would cut itself.

In the end, SoB are uppity female canines who enjoy their faith in the emperor so much, I'd say they themselves are no longer truly human. They've given up normal life in exchange to become bolter-bitches.

Ad Mech would have similar equipment to other Imperial forces, not high-tech hovertanks or jetpacks. They'd be a happy-medium betweeen IG and Space Marines, and could be represented with Witch Hunters (as Skitarii would be the equivalent of elite Stormtroopers or Sisters of Battle).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I would say go with Witchhunters - because Demonhunters and using the Grey Knights just seem a little to powerful for a Mech Army.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)
