It sounds like you boys acoss the pond need to start brewing.

Bottling 5 gallons of pumpkin ale and 5 gallons sierra nevada IPA tomorrow morning. All made for about 30 dollars in total.

Let me warn you though, once you homebrew, theres no going back, you cant drink commercal.

Well thats not entirely true, piss water all the way for beer games, booze for the masses.

Whyren brewery in Durham does an ale so smooth you can drink it like lemonade. Best I've ever had. They do seasonal brews, and change the title each time, so it can be 'Whyren Spring Thing', or 'Whyren Summer Delight', etc. Not too expensive to order a keg either.

Somewhere in south-central England.

There's loads of good beers in the UK. You just are not looking hard enough.

Go to any up-scale supermarket, such as Waitrose, and you'll find a wide variety of canned and bottled beers.

xTry some of the following:

Fullers
Youngs
Wychwood
Brakespeare
Shepherd Neame
Greene's
Caine's

Pubs with decent beer on tap are less common, but hardly a dying breed. Check "www.beerintheevening.com" for recommendations.

Oh lordy, you need to come drinking with me. The US is a goldmine of beer. Not only do we have some of the most boundary pushing breweries in the world, we also get classics like Spaten, Duvel, and Ayinger. Just yesterday I picked up a kickass sixer of Rogue Dead Guy (out of oregon) and a 750ml of the Bruery's Saison Brett.

To OP, you guys have Samuel Smith who makes solid beers up and down the line. Their Oatmeal stout is so delicious, I could drink some for breakfast. IIRC, you can still find J.W. Lees Harvest Ale too which can be aged 20+ years. I think KK named the other good ones though.
