I played at 1500pt game last night. I only had 1 Wave Serpent that I was able to use, so I put Fire Dragons in there...

Had some Banshees, Dark Reapers, Dire Avengers, Avatar, Farseer, Wraithlord, and... Striking Scorpions.

Used the Scorpions with outflanking. Are you allowed to assault AND shoot with outflanking? Because the way I was doing it they got owned, only the exarch survived throughout the turn...

Or am I just doing it wrong? What would a typical footslogging army look like? Lots of troops or elites?

Eldar tend to be quite fraglie for the points cost but if you are careful, you could make a decent list. Just make sure you have enough models, dire avengers will be useful here.

O H I am in the Webway...

A Footslogging army is best run by an Iyanden themed craftworld with Wraithguard + Harlies or an Avatar + Eldrad led guardian horde.

Mechdar are better, but foot can be done.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

If you want to go footslogging invest in an avatar, and at least 30 storm guardians

I run a foot Eldar Army just to be different, and I have not lost a game yet. I will be the first to say the army isn't optimal, but it is surprisingly effective.

Eldrad
Avatar

20 Guardians with warlock, conceal, spirit seer, scatter lasser
40 Dire avengers, no upgrades
5 Pathfinders

Harlies with veil
6 Fire Dragons with Exarch, fire pike and crack shot

3 wraithlords with EML and BL

The Guardians deploy in a huge line to give all the models behind them a cover save. And to take charges from assault units

Pathfinders sit on an objective and don't die, if they kill something I do a happy dance.

Dire avengers pump out flak and kill all kinds of gak, which was a really pleasant surprise.

The Avatar is counter charge and keeps everyone fearless.

Harlies are counter charge or I use them aggressively to go after enemy shooting units.

Dragons keep things like Land Raider's at bay, the fire pike plus crack shot is awesome for popping transports with smoke.

WL's are my ranged anti tank and counter assault.

Eldrad fortunes the guardians and avatar and then guides or fortunes as necessary.

The entire army can move and shoot and there are a lot of bodies on the table. 6 scoring units, while slow, mean you have lots of options for taking objectives.

You run the entire army as a mob, either moving forward vs. shooty armies or sitting and waiting for the charge from assault armies.

The first turn you kind of take it on the chin vs. shooty armies as you need a turn to get into range of your firepower, but I find that by turn 3 I am molly whopping my opponent. Vs. assault armies, I wait for them to charge my blob of fearless guardians, then I shoot the hell out of them if the guardians are wiped out and then counter charge with my assault units.

So, it is different, very fun to play, and surprisingly effective. I fear hellhounds and pie plate throwers though, as those units tear me to pieces. IG is my nemesis, but I have managed to pull out tie games vs. them and still have not lost.

It is a lot tougher to play than mechdar, but I enjoy it quite a bit.

Well, footslogging Eldar armies are viable.
As already said, this army should be led by Eldrad and an Avatar.
The core of the army should consist of shooty units, like
3 Warwalkers with scatter lasers,
2 Wraithlords with bright lance, eml,
Guardian Defender squads with scatter lasers, and
Dire Avengers.

Guardians and DA's could walk inside of the Avatar's fearless bubble.

Harlies (all with kisses, incl. a Shadowseer) form a perfect counter-strike unit,
which can take on any unit threatening your front ranks.

It's not the tops but it isn't the pits either. It was alot better in 4th than it is now. That seems to be the case for everything Eldar in 5th. Personally even though I am a die hard Eldar fan i've finally had enough and play other armies these days. Why play something that no matter how good it is was just better before? It's just not optimal.
