The title says it all. I am wondering whose Int. you use if you zap someone with the pit. Now common sense says if you open a pit under a unit of horsemen, it is the agility of the horse that determines if those troops survive. But then GW hates common sense. So what do you all think. Pointing out rules that support the argument is key here. I am sure that the BRB covers what to do about char. riding a monster, but what a bout cavalry units? Thanks guys!

Or you can argue that its the rider's control on how to escape the pit that matters.
I still say its the rider's stats.

Don't you dare make me argue common sense with you!
But to counter your thought, No matter how hard you yank those reins, if your horse panics or just plain doesn't want to listen, then it won't. (My brother owned a horse farm. This was his thought too)
On page 7 of the BRB under cavalry it says: ..."Cavalry models always use the rider's Leadership, Toughness, and Wounds. The steeds Ld, T, and W are never used. The rider's Movement is also never used."
Thus my confusion.

I'm not 100% positive on this, but I think I recall a line in the BRB saying that in general, any stat-based test against a cavalry model is taken based off of the rider's stats.

I would love to have that page number. That would be clear cut and concise. A direct answer even. ...Wait...this is a trap isn't it?

Hrm, looking at the BRB, it only specifically says to use the rider's T, W and Ld and the Mount's Move. Unless someone else is better at finding this one out, I'd say go with the rider's Initiative (which is normally higher than their mount's anyway).

Or you could read the FAQ, which clearly states that you use the best Initiative value available.
