I'm thinking of playing in an upcoming tourn (my first) and was wondering what people thought of this list, or what suggestions you have. The tourn is wysiwyg, so my options are pretty much limitied (I don't have flayed ones, or pariahs, but otherwise am good for anything in the Necron book).
Heavy Support: Monolith (1#, 235 pts)
1 Monolith @ 235 pts (Gauss Flux Arc; Particle Whip; Power Matrix)

The lord-Give him instead a veil and a res orb, your gonna use him to move a warrior squad around the map when somebody gets closer to them.
Reg. Destroyers-People will be trying to kill them off with heavy weapons only, if you can keep them away from the 24" range of most units, if you keep the destroyers out of melee they sould always be able to get the chance to get back up unless your fighting S10 guns(tau rails, nids venom-fexes, etc.). Keep them at 30" or so distance as much as possible to ensure that only long range weapons can hurt them consistenly, focus fire on said long range units or vehicles.
H.Destroyers-These will be lascannon bait like crazy, you can expect at max 2 turns of effective use and thats if your going first. if you can deploy them in cover or where they'll get cover to ensure they get a chance to negate fire on them.
Warriors-One of these is pretty much boned, stick it in cover and pray for its safety pretty much don't move unless necessary to ensure they get maximum range on there shots and maximum turns before assaulted. the other is gonna be your lords buffer attachement, your gonna move them around where hopefully they'll get single shots off at units at 24" a turn later or away from a unit trying to assault them or to finish off a small squad or vehicle with rapid fire+Staff.
Monoliths-Two things will happen, they'll get ignored in favor of phasing you out(you do have a low model count), or they'll eat every heavy weapons they have, If they are ignored pour them towards the enemy and whip them into submission. If they eat up fire, let them, you need them closer to the middle of the table to be effective and if they get tied down on one side your mobility goes out the window, if you have open spots you might consider deep striking them. If someone trys to block them by parking a vehicle in front of them, erase the vehicle.
You have a low model count so they'll definetley try to phase you but you have enough mobile forces this should be difficult to do if you keep the enemy at maximum range from your destroyers, only str 10 shooting weapons of CC will keep them down for sure so you can get away with having them away from your lord if you need to. Try to avoid having enemies get to close to your monoliths if possible not because of them but because you may want to pull destroyers if possible(if you do turn, the monolith away from a squad to maximize the distance).
Priority targets are vehicles, and units with heavy weapons, or abilities that keep an army together like synapse, or really nasty groups of abilities(crisis suits, terminators, Carnifexes) Smash these with your heavies, destroyers will hopefully thin out the squads, warriors will do little but you want to keep them safe anyways.
IF you wanna change units out try one squad of destroyers for a squad of immortals, anything really will rapidly change you from destroyer based to just a Non-specific.

also, you can only give your Lord 100 points of wargear. I would lose both Monoliths, add another set of Heavy Destroyers and increase the size of your troops. T5 with WBB rolls can be annoying for your enemy.

Yeah I may try the veil, thanks for al the suggestions Ryokkeno. Its my understanding that I can take the warscythe in addtion to the 100 points, that is how I understood it and how army builder lets you do it. Does anyone know of a better more competivie army build for Necrons. My plan for these is to keep the warriros in reserve and take out anything that could just instakill them all before they come in.

For 2000 points, you can take:
The Deciever
10 warriors
10 warriors
5 destroyers
5 destroyers
5 destroyers
3 heavy destroyers
3 heavy destroyers
3 heavy destroyers
I think you are better off with this.

That list with the Deceiver is fairly competitive because there aren't THAT many str 10 weapons out there that can be spammed.
Even if they bring loads of vindicators, you have the destroyer firepower to pop them before they get too close seeing as you have more mobility.
Also, with more of the heavy destroyers, you won't have to worry about not having a model 6" away because they have to knock down 9 instead of 3. (With res orb, if they knock down all 3 you still don't get WBB)
The Deceiver pretty much eats up anything else in CC for the army. Low phase out number is still a problem though in that 2000 point list.

Keep the warriors in reserve, and use the destroyers long range and speed to stay away from CC. The Deceiver does his thing, and either soaks up fire, or kills lots of stuff.
This actually has a higher phase out number than the original list. There are no Monoliths to support it, but The destroyers should be able to avoid most alot of potential problems.

I agree, extrenm54's list is more powerful. Far more firepower and HtH ability. The tough 5 of the Destroyers means that they will be getting their WBB save from nearly everything in the game. The few weapons that will deny it to them should (obviously) be targeted first.

I am not a Necron player. Monoliths are scarry to go aginst. Moving them forward, try to draw the fire from other units is a good tactic. Experiance players would concentrate on Phasing you out, not the monolith. Maybe field just 1?

The deceiver/destroyer/h.destroyer list just looks really easy to phase you. Deceiver will be ignored just as much as a monolith would, only your models don't get a chance to use the portal and no lord means no rez orb. I think extreme's list would be extremely easy to tear apart. At 2k points, there is not going to be enough room to keep your opponent away.
YMMV I guess.
edit: And I really think calling lith "ineffective" is a drastic overstatement.

Also part of my logic is that warriors are the suck and I don't want to take more than I have to, but since 2/3 of the game is objective based, taking monoliths lets me slingshot my warriors to objectives better.

The list looks fine. I might drop 1 mono, drop 1 squad of H. Des. to 2 then add another squad of 2. They can WBB off of each other and they can fire at seperate targets. That Should free up 170 pts for something else. If you wanna go crazy, replace one unit of destroyers for 10 scarabs then with the 130 saved plus the 170 saved get the deciever. I dont think your list is bad though so run what you want.

One or two Monoliths, that's a basic difference.
If you want a Destroyer-heavy army, then go for lots of Destroyers and drop one Monolith.
Two small Warriors will not cut it. I'd add another one.
