So If I have an wolf lord or and Wolf guard battle Leader and I take the option to have 1 or 2 Fenrisian wolves do I still have an Independent Character or is it an upgrade Character.

For example am I allowed to have a Wolf Lord/with 2 fenrisian wolves joining a wolf guard terminator squad? or because of the wolves he is not allowed?and if he is allowed may I allocate 1 wound to the fenrisian wolf(I am thinking a plasma wound,lascannon,ap2 etc.)

Not a clue. He was able to join other units in the last codex. GW has made many mistakes with this codex (But at least the wolves finally have a new codex). At the moment he technically can't since they form a retinue ... expect it to be FAQ shortly

It doesn't say that the Wolves and the IC form a unit, just that:
1) The wolves must stay within 2" of the IC
2) The wolves can enter a transport, but take up two spots.

So, while it's not specifically stated that the IC can still join a unit, there's nothing that seems to prevent him either.

If you check the IC part of the BGB you will find that it covers the definition of a retinue. Without some clarification, the way Tau drone have, its a retinue and he can't join any other units.

Maybe..but you take the wolves as wargear... if you take a pistol a pf or a aux ml ..no problem..because.. it's from the war gear... so the wolves are wargear.. no command squad no retinue etc.

I'm inclined to agree with this appraisal and as a result, the wolves are wargear and are not a retinue. At the point it's more How You Play It than You Make Da Call, though. Wait for the the faq and come to an agreement with your opponents - make sure to have an alternate list/substitution if they disagree with your point of view.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

The wolves have a stat line, are represented by separate models and have a rule that says they must always stay within 2" of their master. Yep. I am with Tri here. Fills the description of a retinue. GW should have added a few words to the entry of the Fenrisian Wolves to avoid this.

A ork amo rount is a retinue? is a little gort-that is a living creture- and it has it's own design and it must stay with the IC that it has been asigne to... same thing to an attack squig

SO as a warboos I have a retinue of 3 amo rount and 1 attack squig? no...because they are in the wargear section

ammo runts are a marker. They are ignored for everything ... other then when they're used for a reroll

It is not actually clear if it forms a retinue or not.

I'd think it would be treated the same as a Tau drone until something comes out stating otherwise. It's not like an attack squig that gives a +1 to a models attack characteristic, it's an actual model that has a statline.

I think it should be handled like Tau Drones, but it's not clearly stated that they are. It doesn't say the wolves form a retinue, but by the basic defintion of a retinue, they do.

It USED to be that they were a counted as a unit for purposes of hit allocation but they were allowed to join other units (basically treated the same way the SM codex used to handle familars).

Thus I'm sticking to this until GW tell me otherwise.

The SW Dex does not say they can't so IHO they can join units becouse they tell you in other books you can't and they don't tell you in this one.
