Hello tried an army a few times this weekend and found i did pretty well. I main problems was with mech eldar [too fast] and a horde ork army [to many enemies]. Some of it was apparent bad luck with dice rolls but thought i would see what others thought.

HQ:
Deamon prince
--Nurgle, WIngs, Warptime
Deamon Prince
--Nurgle, Wings, Nurgles Rot
Summoned Greater Deamon

Elites:
None

Troops
10 Plague Marines
--2 meltaguns, Champion with power fist and icon
10 Plague Marines
--2 meltaguns, Champion with icon

4 X 5 Lesser summoned deamons

Fast Attack
None

Heavy Support
2 Deamonically Posseed Land Raiders

Total comes in at 1745

Any help comment or suggestions welcome.

Your main way to beat Orks is to hit them with even more Plagues, and/or multiple flamers in a given unit. I like the flying Nurgle’s Rot prince, though. I think that should be great against the big mobs, as long as you get the charge, to reduce the incoming attacks.

As far as Eldar, I don’t know if Nurgle’s ever going to do well without some more long-range fire support. Oblits, Havocs with missiles, and princes with Warp Time are about your best bets. Melta’s not terrible if you can get in close, but it’s the getting in close that’s the hard part.

It feels to me like you don’t have enough threats. 3 big daemons and 2 squads which can actually kill anything. The Lesser Daemons are cheap objective holders, but they’re not doing anything else. I wouldn’t want more than 1-2 units like that. Your champions also should not have the icons, since one of them dies when the GD appears. Personally, I think the GD is a bad fit in the list as it is, since champs with fists do most of the killing in a CSM squad anyway. You don’t want to lose an expensive champ.

I could see three ways to go with this list. The easiest, retaining most of the same models, would be something like:

Prince + prince = 340
7 plagues w/2xmelta, icon, champ w/fist = 226
7 plagues w/2xmelta, icon, champ w/fist = 226
5 plagues w/2xmelta, icon = 145, in rhino w/extra bolter = 40
10 LDs = 130
10 CSM w/Icon of Chaos Glory, Missile Launcher, Melta = 180
1 possessed LR = 240
1 LR = 220

1747

This way you have more meltas, you spread out the hitty a bit, and you now have five reasonably durable scoring units instead of two durable ones and four flimsy ones. 10 Lessers are actually durable and hitty enough to kill a reasonable number of light infantry, and/or add some useful numbers to a fight against tougher stuff alongside the plagues. I like using them to get into base contact with enemy that have power weapons or fists which could squish my marines. You could also still go really cheap and just take a squad of five LDs, and spend the extra points on more plagues, another rhino, a champ for the little squad, or a champ for the CSM squad. The CSM squad is designed to sit and hold a home objective in most circumstances, and still be able to summon reinforcements to help them fight attackers, or to just have the LDs hold a second objective if they come in too early.

Alternate ways to revise the list would probably include dropping one or more of the landraiders to make sure every squad has a transport. You could probably keep the greater daemon, too, with a cheaper, more expendable champion.

Maybe roughly:

Prince + prince + GD= 440
7 plagues w/2xmelta, icon, champ w/fist = 226, in rhino = 35
7 plagues w/2xmelta, icon, champ w/fist = 226, in rhino = 35
7 plagues w/melta, flamer, icon, champ w/fist = 221, in rhino = 35
10 CSM w/2xflamer, IoCG, champ = 185, in rhino = 35
14 LDs = 182
10 LDs = 130
1750

This list invests in big enough LD squads that they can actually put out some wounds, and has Rhinos for everyone. The princes should use them for 4+ cover saves as they move up.

Or you could keep one of the LRs, and either use it as the delivery system for full unit of 10 plagues, or as a ride for a cheap unit of 5 CSMs with Icon and Champ, which would be used purely for summoning, and just stay inside the LR all game long to be a mobile scoring unit.
