So far this site shows little love to roleplaying games, most of the users on this forum play 40k and most (but not all) collect bog-standard armies. The grim-dark future has so much more to offer than that loads of diverse factions, aliens, equipment, heroes and villains. Hopefully this thread will catch the eye and inspire some of you to play dark heresy. I will be presenting my player group, models, ideas, plothooks and some reports to you. So if there's any Dark Heresy players who would like to show their models, ideas and any thing else related please do. I will update once a week-ish!

Right, whilst my acoyltes are playing Rejoice for you are true from purge the unclean I set up making my own mission Hill 42 which is supposed to come across as a military endgame involving the inquisition, kind of like Eisenhorn. So I plan on infiltrating my guy's with an elite force of shocktroopers, que the deadly spades,

Nice... really like the pose and the base.
Make sure you get rid of those pesky mold lines tho.

I'm playing DH right now. Not much love for it at the FLGS but a group online is pretty into it. Four games at once actually.
1) Conventional DH game with the acolytes investigating a xenos incursion.
2) Pure survival game, roll up a character, take the basic gear the GM gives you and try to stay alive as long as you can.
3) Imperial Guard/Chem Dogs game. Escape from a dead planet the Imperium is evacuating. The miners being left behind aren't happy.
4) Space Marines Deathwatch game. Currently on a mission to assassinate a group of ork leaders to prevent a WAAAGH!!! from forming. I'm GMing that one.

I would love to model and paint the character from the ongoing campaign I play in, but the world can be so deadly to characters that the $15 model can be invalidated by a couple of unlucky d% rolls.
On the topic of ideas, though, I highly recommend homebrewing up enemies that aren't listed in the main rulebook. Our DM recently set us up against Necrons. The two less experienced players got six scarabs to fight, and they had the interrogator's assault cannon (he named it Sabatyne, in the honored Jayne tradition). The interrogator and I (Techpriest) got a pariah. They're a lot scarier when you're not a space marine on the tabletop. Just start off with a couple things here and there that have similar statlines to those in the book, and then throw your players a curveball that even those who read the books can't see coming.

Balancing out new types of enemies can be tough. In one of our parties we've got people that range from my SoB with 6 armor and 4 toughness carrying a hellgun with a BS of 54 down to our Adept with 2 armor, 3 toughness, and carrying a laspistol with a BS of 31. It can be tough to create new enemies who the Sororitas won't just run over but that won't vape the scribe in one shot.
It's easier in the two games I GM, one is guardsman who are pretty uniform in their armor, toughness, weapons, and skill levels, and the other is Space Marines, pretty much the same. Those I can easily crank out new opponents for safely. I don't envy our GM when it comes to combat in our conventional DH game.

I here you on the lack of love for DH at the FLGS. I can't find anybody to play and I've tried 3 different FLGSs in two counties.
Tyyr, what are you using to play online?

A message board and people I trust not to lie through their teeth about their dice rolls. There are some on-line dice rollers with logs if you can't trust your players though.
