These are a Space Wolf successor chapter from the 21st founding. For those of you that are close-minded hardliners, this may not be for you. For those individuals that LOVE and/or LIKE creativity and such, this is totally for you. Hope everyone likes them. I will even throw in a story about them in a different forum.

Interesting. I like the idea. A friend of mine was makeing his own chapter based off of the scottish Blackwatch from WW2. The only thing is the termis look like they have on moomoos. Maybe only makeing it like the tabard that alot of the HQ and vets models have.

I do like the creativity its definately very different . But thats my 2 cents

I dig it! I've never seen a marine army like it. Very original and cool. They kinda remind me of the Samurines, (samurai space marines) that I saw at my FLGS.

Forget the scenario, you simply can't stop fighting them until they are kilt to a man.

BWAHAHAHAAAA that was a good one.

I like the idea, and even some of the minis look really good. I think the kilts look a little thick on a few of them, maybe try and get a little more movement in the kilts when you make them.

Thats some top notch tarten you have going there. I like how you have the different colors and patterns, it gives them a real nice theme. The terminator with the bag pipe is also pretty awsome.

Now just out of curiosity, how big do ya think a terminator sized bag pipe would be?

great idea just honestly poor follow through. The kilts on the termies makes them well as stated look like they have moo moos. Now had you done it in oooo a cape or even something hanging from the belts it would have been awsome.. Just tone down the size at least and I think you have a good looking army.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Of course, as an American, that means I must say that soccer sucks, and football (real football... you know, the one where you do everything with your hands) is 10,000 times as good. I mean, football players could probably beat up soccer players, even, because they actually know sports.

I appreciate all of the comments about this army. The thing with the psyker is just a test of me trying to do something interesting.

The moo moos as people call them are just too bad for those that do not like it. You are VERY entitled to your opinion, but I just do not see what you mean. As for the cape thing, I think having all of that AND the kilts would have been overkill. The thing that was the hardest about all of that was getting the proper length of the kilts AND placing them without having them stick to my fingers. I will be using the grey stuff from now on. It is a latex based epoxy putty that is easier to use than green stuff I think.

As for the size of the bagpipes for a termie, I would say larger than a bread box and ALMOST the size of a body bag for a normal human in the game. That thing was the easiest thing I have ever made. I am sure that the Imperial Fist players will be pretty pissed off with me since I used Lysander as a piper.lol

Again, thank you for everyone's opinions. I DO value other people criticism to help me improve upon what I have going right now. I DO have some of the new termies from the Space Wolves Wolf Guard box set. I am thinking of NOT placing kilts on them at all since there is too much detail to cover up. I will most likely paint the tartans on the bare shoulder pauldron. What do you guys think of that?

How do people want the "moomoos" redone? The terminator will be just as bulky before and after the work is carried out...

I love the idea, I LOVE the painting, especially on the cloth, and I love your creativity. Props to you.

I think the tartan looks extremely well painted and they definitely stand out as unique and original!

I do think a tabard type covering would've worked a little better than the full kilt but that's just my opinion. They kinda make me think of housewives in aprons, sorry!

I agree that you might want to try just painting the shoulders in tartan on the Swolves, but a bit of flowing cloth would probably look excellent as well. That's the best part about this hobby, trying new things and improving your abilities. Too many people stick with what they know and, while it looks good, never branch out into something particularly unique and interesting (myself included!).

Kudos to you for being inventive and adventurous!

Nice job over all, but being a piper myself, I kind of have to laugh at the piper model (he looks like he has two chanters), but it is better than what I could come up with so good job.

Nice, I was thinking housewives with aprons as well.

I don't think it's the size of the kilts, but the shape of it. They seem to just drape over the terminator armour details and doesn't match the movements of the terminator models.

The other option is to incorporate the tartans into the armour, much like the way the Black Templars or the Dark Angels wear their tabards. Some of them look like they're not only worn over the armour, but built into the armour.

You could also do what most Space Marine librarians in terminator armour do as well, have a 'hood' under the armour. I recall kilts being worn in such fashion in movie...? Braveheart...

Most importantly I think you need to work with thinner layers of greenstuff. The physics of cloth-material on terminator armour wouldn't work the way as they would on a normal person. It's likely that the length of the kilt will merge into the chinks of armour and especially the knee pads, and make folds etc.

Kilts are worn just below the knee line, but the armour would restrict the drop of the kilt, it would literally be pooled into the area between the kneecap/top most area of a shinpad.

In fact, get someone to wear a kilt while wearing a hockey goal keep gear. And just study how the material flows and droops ...

The idea itself isn't impossible, just the physics behind it hasn't been executed as convincingly as the 'pros' in GW have done with other cloth wearing Marines.

As for the bagpipes, I had to have two chanters because of the LACK of being able to reach his arms into the middle to have one. I appreciate your comments on it. I did this army like this because it is my ancestry and I like the idea behind it all.

Putting it on the shoulder would look great I think. The kilts being called moo moos wasnt a knock at you or the painting heck I love the idea honestly especially with my scottish heritage. Another way if you want is go and do it on a loinclothe that could work and then do a almost sash down to it. This way it is not covering all the detail and still conveys your ideas across. Again great idea just some helpful words of advice which is why we all post here.Looking forward to seeing more

Empchild - I do have a couple of figs that have a loincloth type of thin with a tartan on it. I could TRY and get a photo of it done and then post it very soon. About the bagpipe thing, I believe they go under the arm of the piper and not over the shoulder. Just so you know, I was NOT offended by anything that you posted in any way. I am thinking about placing some tartans on my Space Wolf termies that I just put together, but I was not sure of how to do it. I am thinking of painting the inside of the wolf pelt a tartan style and a loincloth on it as to NOT cover very much detail. The new figs are SWEET!!!!! I am having so much fun with them. I have even ordered some new magnets to help me with my endeavor of converting the crap out of a few of them for different styles of play. I need to get a new USB cord to download the pics I have taken. But, thank you for the comments.
One guy at a tourny over this past weekend said that my stuff looked "o-kay". His crap was not even half-way painted AND I took best appearance.lol Guess he will shut his mouth next time.lol

Now that I have some of the new figs for the Space Wolves, how should I do the "moo moos" (tartans) as people call them? There is too much rich detail on the new figs for me to do much of anything like that on these figs. I would appreciate some advice on these please.

First let me start with saying I apologize for using the term moomoo, when describing them in my first post for these guys. I didnt relieaze the term would get alot of use.

To keep the tartan idea but not cover up the detail work of the SW models, I would suggest doing wither a loincloth type idea to hang from the waist, the shoulder or even off of the backpack. Something that would be noticed but not large enough to cover up detail too much. Also on heavy weapons you could hang the tarbard off of the gun as i did on some heavy bolter guys of mine.

Also some sort of cape attached to the backpack or maybe even hanging off of the shoulder like the Dark Angels company master model has

Well thats my.$02 again.

It's a good idea, although currently it looks like the Termies have simply wrapped tea-towels around their waist, although I like the tartan painting.

If you were going with tartans on the space wolf minis, you could probably cover all the wolf pelts on them with a thin layer of green stuff and then paint them with the tartan pattern.

That way you would have your design you wanted as well as the flow and movement of the model wouldn't be affected nor would its details.

Thank you Winter, Valkyrie, and Fallenbourne for your ideas. Now that I have some time to actually do something that I WANT to do, I can give that some thought. I will most likely go to a different site to get that Space Marine painter thing printed out and then try to pencil in some kilts in various forms. Would guys like to see the finished product on here or would you like some private pics of these guys? Again, thank you and if ANYONE on here is able to go, TRY to attend DieCon in June in the St. Louis, MO area. It is actually in Collinsville, IL but we are VERY close to St. Louis, MO.
