I am new to the game after being a long standing warhammer player looking for a change.

I am looking at starting Khador with the idea of building the list around Sorcha and I was wondering what jacks/units to include at first.

I'm not an expert on Khador, but let me attempt to help you out.

I assume were building towards MK2 rules? Running with that assumption ...

IronFang Pikemen are basically the backbone of the Khador infantry. Still incredibly tough and the ability to threaten a larger range than most other infantry. Be sure you pick up the UA for them an extra 6" move and pathfinder on the charge is always good.

Great Bears of Gallowood now seem to just be basically better than the Demo Corp. You can get more bodies with the Demo Corp, but thats basically their only advantage. A 3 man unit of Demo Corp even cost 1 point more than the Bears. 2 points of P+S doesn't seem to be worth having to choose between Weapon Master and 2 attacks.

Winterguard are very thematic for Sorscha but I haven't had good luck with them. The mortar crews were fun in mk1. They do have both CRA and CMA with the UA though, so if they get close to something, they can hurt it. (Close for both! 8" Range on guns unfort.) If your going to use Winterguard be sure to use Kovnik Jozef. He makes them much more deadly for 2 points.

Kossite Woodmen are now dirt cheap and synergize well with pSorscha's spell to give everything in her control area concealment.

Manhunter and Yuri are as good as they ever were as being solo wrecking balls.

On jacks I'm not sure whats good. I only have a small Khador force as I normally play Protectorate. I use Irusk, so I always ran a Kodiak or beast as my 1 jack for Superiority, and I had a destroyer for Sorscha. Beast was insane in mk1. My guess if the changes are like they are for the rest of the factions, almost any of the jacks can be used well.

Winterguard are extremely useful as a screening unit, cheap fodder you can send forward, not to die, but at least to provide threat and force the enemy to expend attacks to clear them away, attacks that aren't going to your more powerful and expensive units.

They also do a good chunk of damage when you use their CRA, and with attachments and a kovnik they get better, but they are, at its core, a screening unit.

However, should the enemy ignore them, they're in for a world of hurt as winterguard can and do put the hurt on.

So yeah, try a full unit of winterguard, add some rocket attachments for more anti-jack ability. But make sure you have something hard hitting behind them so that after the winter guard take the hurt, the power units burst through the lines to give it right back, while the remaining winterguard finish up anything that's left standing.

Start with the Battlebox. You get:

Sorscha: Much loved/loathed Warcaster. Fast, hard to hit and has a powerful assassin's Feat.
Destroyer: Solid, high armour Heavy Warjack with a good long range gun and potent melee capabilities.
Juggernaut: Powerful, resilient and inexpensive melee specialist.

MKII 15 point Armylist (11/15):

Sorscha (-5) [Five extra points to spend on Warjacks]
Destroyer (9)
Juggernaut (7)

This is a playable if not optimised 15 point Mangled Metal list. To optimise it I'd probably swap the Juggernaut for any of the other Warjacks available with the points you have (everything except the Behemoth). Rather than optimising for 15 points I would reccomend jumping straight up to 25 point games with a mix of Warjacks, Units and Solos.

MKII 25 point Armylist (25/25):

Sorscha (-5) [Five extra points to spend on Warjacks]
War Dog (1)
Destroyer (9)
Juggernaut (7)
(max) Iron Fang Pikemen (8) [10 Models inc. Leader]
Iron Fang Pikemen Unit Attachment (2) [Part of the IFP unit, 2 models, Officer and Stadard bearer]
Uri the Axe (3)

You have 14 points to play with after you have purchaced yor warjacks. The poster above offers some good suggestions, a full unit of IFPs and their UA cost 10 points, Uri the Axe 3 and a Wardog fills the last point. You may want to go with a smaller unit so that you can fit in two units or more solos, giving you greater flexibility.
