It recently became obvious to me that I didn't know much about tyranids. My solution: Make a list. A competitive list with a theme: Classic tyranids, horde w/ lumbering monstrous creatures. No genestealers, because if I ever make this list on the tabletop I hate genestealers. I know they'd be better than gaunts. I don't care.

im asuming this is a 1000 pt list if so i do for much faster anti tank carnidfexs are good but will be slow getting to your opponent i personaly like have the s8 large blast anti tank and anti infintry and to go with that scything talons the you go a 113 pt carnifex

the hive tyrant if you go with the tyrant guard i sugggest giving it enhansed sences 2 tl devourers warp field and extended carapace then that will make sure your hive tyrant doesnt die having 10 wounds to kill it wile on the last 4 wounds hes got a 1+ save being able to make saves against ap2 weapons and a 6+ on those ap1 weapons remember that you always fail on a 1

warrior try and get one more set of three giving you two groups of 6 give them leaping rending claws and scything talons both adrenal glands with extended carapace and toxin sacs this should make up for your lack of gene steelers and thier you go

Well you're telling me to add all these things, but aren't telling me where I could get the points to do so.

Lose the bonesword lash whip combo on the tyrant. Another pair of scything talons is better. Lose the VC and BS upgrade on the warriors. Barbed strangler works better. Lose the toxin sacs on the gaunts. Get at least 1 small brood (8-12 strong) with WoN. Get a zoanthrope or 2 to babysit them. Lose the mace tail on the carnifexes.try to get some guns on (some of) them since they can stun tanks while the other stuff moves in for the kill.

In 5th edition the trend I see is less Warriors and more Carnifex try and make some changes along that line and see if it helps out.
