Subject: Q about acrobatics

Hey.
I recently played a few games with Hawk and something came up.
Can she use her acrobatics to charge out of melee with an enemy to fight a different one?
Acrobatics says she can ignore intervening models when declaring charges. And that she ignores free strikes and can move through other models.
In our game, she was in melee with a Lancer that had knocked her to 1 point. But Nemo was left about 8" from her in LOS, in her front arc.
We decided, with help from a third party, that she could charge Nemo. Is this correct?
I question it, but I believe the rules will allow it. The requirements for charging do not mention if the charging model is in melee.

If she can see a target (LOS) she can declare a charge on it, and thus charge it.
There is no real hard lock in melee combat, unlike other games. The only thing that keeps you in a melee is that if you leave you take a free strike that gets bonuses to hit and damage.
The game is balanced this way to promote aggression and trade offs. Certain times you'll just want to take the free strike so you can have that unit/model pound on a juicy target. The best example is a warjack simply ignoring and walking away from infantry with a weak melee attack so you can hit something else.
Acrobatics allows you to ignore free strikes and move through units. It's main limitation is that you still can't charge what you can't see, but you can simply move into combat.
So yes, assuming Hawk had LOS to Nemo she can charge him out of combat.

When you "ignore intervening models" you are ignoring them for LOS as well. Therefore,
assuming Nemo was in her front arc, she could see him and she could charge him.
Someone needs to introduce your group to the beauty/horror that is Rhyas.

Ah, whoops, I forgot about ignoring intervening models.
Not just Rhyas either, Narn, the retribution solo is the melee version of Eiryss. He has acrobatics, and can make a full move again after killing someone. With a SPD of 7 and the ability to ignore focus and spells adding to armor, he's a warcaster killing machine. That is, if the enemy is dumb enough to let him live past the second turn.

Thanks guys.
Like I said, it made sense, but I felt kinda dirty using it.
Then his Hammersmith wrecked 2 jacks in one turn, and I didn't any more.
There are a lot of "You can do WHAT?" moments for me when I play this game.
And that seems to be what I enjoy about it.
