hey guys,
im looking to maybe start a demons army but i hate working with metal. does anyone know any good alternate model websites? im not a huge tourny player so they dont have to perfectly represent the 40k counter part. so yea, if anyone knows any good alternate model stores for deamons or just in general even, you cant ever drool over too many good looking models.
thanks guys

Most alternative companies are metal, not plastic. I have never seen alternative plastic daemon models. Alternative metal models are often just as expensive or more than GW. There is no easy solution to your problem.

Ultraforge do some nice greater daemons/daemon princes.
Forgeworld have a few nice bits and bobs too.
I've seen lots of nice conversions from GW plastics to save money when making daemon armies (zombie plaguebearers spring to mind).
Best to let us know what you want stand in models for and we will find you the models.

Bullocks, I say- GW has the highest, most inane prices around; an $18.00 danta will have just much, if not less lead then a reaper paladin that costs $4.00

If you want plastics you're almost out of luck. YOu can probably find some of the pre-painted soft-plastic stuff like Mage KNight but no one else really makes fantasy plastics like GW.

In the last few years some really great plastic historicals came out you could use for Empire or something but no good fantasy.

For metals check out West Wind's Lucifers War line.

Reaper is pretty cheap, but other companies are not so much. For example, Rackham and Privateer Press.

Reaper is cheap because most of their models are no where near as good looking/detailed as GW's. Reaper's are ok for the most part but GW does produce some of the highest quality models for gaming across their lines. Don't go pointing out some of their 10+ year old models and say "this doesn't look super detailed". Their new stuff is great for they are putting good amounts in to R&D to make it happen. As for the cost, most compaines do NOT have R&D section to design the machines to make better models out of Purter and Plastic.
This is a hobby that you DON"T have to spend money if you don't want too. If you don't like the price of something find something else, save your money or make something.

Anyone complaining about model quality cares about the R&D of model companies. Far be it for someone to try to provide insight as to why you will not find cheap alternative models that are of good quality.

You can get alternate models all over the internet but they won't be much cheaper than GW and you will not find alternate plastics. Privateer Press is just recently starting to do plastics, I don't think anyone else does. Some companies do sell greens but those are far and few between and aren't any cheaper than GW metals.

As previously stated, for cheap metals you can look to some of Reaper's lines. Their better sculpts, though, aren't much if any cheaper than GWs but they are great for one-off models that you don't particularly like from GW (Dark Elf Harpies and Hydra, for me).

Don't be rude.

I am pretty sure people have answered your question, even though they didn't have to. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean you need to be a jackass about it.

In fact, that's a good way to make sure other people DON'T answer your questions.

But, in case you missed it...

There are no alternate plastic models for a Daemon army.

i wasnt trying to be rude to anyone, and i really appreciate the feedback, dont get me wrong, but the question was for alternate model opertunities, not the ins-and-outs of various model companies.
and, to be clear, i was not complaining about the cost or quality of gw models, i simply was wondering if there were alternatives out there that would give me some inspiration and help refresh my modeling.
just trying to keep the posting on topic
