As stated on pg 62 "Once per game, a unit that includes a wolf standard may call upon the power of the wolf. For the duration of the next assault phase, all models in that unit may re-roll any dice rolls of a 1"
So, the question is
- When do I declare it? I would assume during the shooting phase. Because it states "..duration of the next assault phase..", if I was to do it during my assault phase then it would take affect NEXT assault phase.
- If it is decided I do declare this during the assault phase, then can I declare it during the enemies assault phase?
I interrupt it as if I was to tell you to take a next left while driving, you would turn at the next one coming up, not the one after that.

I would allow it at any time up to and including the beginning of either assault phase. It's great when you roll up 1+1 attacks for your MotW guy, or for a particularly bad DT test.

I agree. Just wish I could take it for Wolf Guard, I miss those rerollable armour saves.
Still, max out on characters on the squad and you're away.

I have to say that it must be declared at any time during the Movement or Shooting Phase directly preceding the Assault Phase one wishes to use the Standard in.

Such as as soon as the opponent declares that his shooting phase is over but before any charges are declared or dice rolled...

I can't tell if you're disagreeing with me...
But just to be crazeh, why can't you declare it in deployment?

I'm agreeing with you
Though if my Opponent isn't a dick (or buys me a pint), I'll let him declare it at the start of the Assault Phase before any Assault Moves are made.
And Sure, you can declare it in deployment, and you'll get the affect on the first Assault Phase. Bit of a waste though as they will either be:
1) In Reserve Inside a Pod
2) In a Rhino
3) Not in Close Combat

Then your 'must' is incorrectly used!
An example of when this would be useful is when your Tau opponent has a rules query and you guys dice off for it because there's no clear answer, then you roll a 1. The unit takes the dice roll!

Can you declare it though in your opponents turn? It doesn't seem to have that restriction.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated. |

I thought you had to declare it at the beginning of hte assault phase. I'll have to read the entry again.
I assume it would also apply to any indepedent character that joins the squad.

1)Nope, you can call it "once per game" and then "for the duration of the next Assault phase" you get the affect. If you declare it in an Assault phase, it will not work until the next Assault phase. 2) Yup, it says "A unit that contains a Wolf Standard" and "that unit may re-roll". IC's are part of the unit they are hobnobbing with.
