My chaos army is having a heck of a time against anything with KB. I've so far only had one round of combat where the enemy wasn't able to get me killed with it due to poor rolling. Most things that have it have a lot of attacks. DE assassins are one of the worst, often getting +d3 attacks and, with hatred, can easily get 5+ hits, meaning they have very good odds of getting the KB roll they need.

Wood Elf waywatcher lords with the re-roll wounds and KB are also nasty, keeping a low strength that ensures lots of re-rolls will be made. VC and their graveguard are another thorn in the side. I can take the Bronze Armour of Zhrakk, but on a lord that really negates one of the best reasons for having them - granting their Leadership to others. The Crimson Armour of Dargan is WAY WAY overpriced, and really not too useful - most multiply wound weapons leave their bearers at S4 or 5, meaning they often have trouble getting through enemy characters with good armour saves, and thus those weapons get left home.

Then there's special characters. I love Sigvald and he really fits my army, and for tournament play I've been considering converting a Valkia model - but both of them are one-shotted without any chance to save by something as simple as a DE assassin. Sigvald has ASF, but an assassin would have higher I and go before him. Both characters have good armour saves and Sigvald regenerates, but those do nothing.

Do most players just try to get a ward save [something chaos has limited access to] and hope they make it? How do you play against killing blow? I'm not too worried about it when it comes to units, but I keep losing awesome characters like Sigvald to assassins that cost a quarter of his points, or worse yet to 12 point graveguard.

Against KB or highly elite enemies , i send them the weakest units . Cheap + lack of armor , where they get no armor saves anyways , KB doesnt matter either.

How many assassins do most DE armies field? There always seems to be one in every unit I'm up against.

That's funny, because I can never get KB to trigger...

Yeah, in my VC army I took a lord with red fury, infinite hatred, beguile, nightshroud, sword of kings.....

Even re-rolling everything [because it doesn't say failures, just re-roll wounds] I only got a 6 once. I got 2 actually, and was quite happy - but it was against a dwarf lord on shieldbearers, which I didn't know made him US3 and thus immune, even though EVERY single other character that rides something, even a chariot, can be KB'ed.

The assassin and waywatcher attacks both are non-magical, right? You could take the magic armor which gives you a 4+ ward vs it. Optionally combine with the Mark of Tzeentch to make it a 3+.

Isn't there a nurgle-flavored talisman which makes the bearer immune to KB & poisoned attacks?

Waywatcher has a magical sword.

Talisman makes you immune to poison and Nurgle spells, no help against killing blow.

He covered the two anti-KB items (Bronze armor and Crimson armor).

You have the option of getting a ward save and helping it with Tzeentch.

Another option is to have (Dragon) ogres or Trolls and send them agains the KB source. They are immune due to high US. A Daemon Prince is also immune.

A waywatcher character could have a magical sword. But he can't KB with it.

The ward save and the bronze armor are probably the best bets, then. Depending on your marks, the general's leadership isn't all that critical in WoC anyway.

Probably was thinking of the Wardancer hero.

And yes, Leadership isn't all that important in WoC. Especially if you go Slaanesh.

The only magical weapon a Wardancer char can take(blades of loec iirc) also count as "wardancer weapons", so he can use the swords and do the KB dance, all the while rerolling his to-wound rolls.

Never underestimate your Hellcannon! Lob a hellcannon shot on KB things, it fire like a stone thrower, does it to multi wounds? That would be perfect also to try and cause panic checks.
