The best you can do now is having a TON of valks/vends and deep striking out of those...

I assault with my guardsmen, why dont you?

plus you can get storm troopers and make them deep strike too....

I recommend to have a combination of outflanking/deep strike units, and this should give you the same "feel" or flavor of the all drop troop list. You could reason out that the outflanking units are those that have dropped off/landed in a zone outside the board, and are rushing to reinforce the landing zone of those you will actually drop/emerge from your list.

Suggested units:

- Company command with an astropath (in a valk/vendetta)
- An Alrahem led outflanking platoon (in chimeras would be great, if you can find the fluff to justify why they are mounted, or on foot if not)
- 2-3 units of deep striking storm troops (you can replace 1 with marbo...the reason being he is the uber scout who designated the drop zone, and whose job is now to kill kill kill)
- veteran units (riding valks/vendettas), 1 could also be on foot oR in a chimera with harker, so they can outflank (if on foot, can also infiltrate).
- of course, the required valks/vendettas to carry the lot...I would think if the veterans carry meltas then I would use valks with rocket pods, for the necessary large templates to kill off hordes...
- The issue here is that if you really want to stick to light units to represent a drop troop/air mobile army, then your heavy support should at the most be hydras or griffons (light tanks)...OR, you can declare all your HS tanks as reserves, and say that the tanks were heavy cargo lifted on the battlefield somewhere else and are now rushing to reinforce the drop zone....if you include creed in the CCS you can make a unit outflank too...

So while not a "true" all out drop troop army, you can hopefully pull off the same surprise and shock factor as the old deep strike 4th ed guard....

Next year's IA book is supposed to have the new Elysian list if you want a true drop army.

Don't expect it to be especially powerful though.

Having owned both. DKOK are really neat ,but a bit weedy. The lasguns are small, thin, and break easily.

The Elysians are a more robust, but suffer from small fragile gun barrels.

Both are worth owning, but I would not use them for general gaming.
