Ok, so i know he is not the most competitive piece in the IG army. So i dont expect to get tactics on how to win tournaments with him. I am just curious on how people used him or have tried him out in your lists. For myself I like to use him in my list as much as possible. I usually run him with 4 Grey Knights and a Justicar. Has worked out well for me, especially with the ability to suck up so much damage with Yarrick....

so lets hear your experiences with him.. likes and dislikes...

i have yet to try it, but my next game I will start them out in a chimera and have the run along side a Blob of 30 guardsmen/Commissar/4 Power weapons. My plan will be to have him run out of the chimera before the charge and join the blob to give them the reroll misses=/Fearless

then let loose the Grey Knights for the counter charge...

well that is my plan.

I use him in the big blob squad and he works great, you just can't let him get gibbed in HtH or the entire squad will break and get run down.

I love him though, I think they got his state and rules down just right for this edition.

Why not just use a 35pt commissar if youre gonna use yarrick like that?

Imo hes pretty much the worst IC in the galaxy.. 185 pts you get a guy who is a combination of around 100 pts of abilities.. He strikes last, has no invul save and also is only S6

Who needs an invulnerable save when you can stand up 2/3 of the time after being hacked to pieces?

...Gotta hit him, gotta wound him, gotta wound him AGAIN (crazy force field thingie), he's gotta fail his save, and then you gotta do it all two more times (Eternal Warrior), and hope he blows that "Aw, HELL no" roll to stand back up!

Alles klar, eh, Kommissar?

185 points is way too much, id rather buy another manticore/vendetta/ vet squad + chimera...

I think he's awesome fluff-wise, but there are just a lot of better things you can get for the points imo

I see your 185 point Yarrick and raise you a 205 point Aun'Va

Don't be mean to Aun'va. He is old and underpowered, and smells of rotten fish. He has enough problems

He will only balance his points out in a large infantry army. That way he can be your counter charge unit. If he gets knocked down, he may get back up but he fails to accomplish anything that turn other then soak up some hits... Then when you charge him in next turn, you have one wound and any enemy with a powersword will land him back on the ground before his fist goes off. If you try to use his power weapon hes going at to low of an int. to get his attacks in. I own him, used him, and will never use him again as he does not fit my armies profile.

I wanna try him in a 50 guardsman blob, and then stick him close to the back of the blob, so that when I charge or get charged they probably won't hit him, but he will be close enough to swing.

He does cost QUITE a lot for what amounts to a commissar with a fist who has a WBB roll though.

I guess he is just more of an annoyance to my oppopnent. I had him fighting a mob of Nobs for 4 turns on my last game. My opponent was determined to take him down and he kept getting back up. It was pretty funny.

If he's not in BTB he doesn't get to swing at all?

If he's an Independent Character and the squad doesn't somehow count as a retinue, then yeah he'd need to be in base to base contact to squish anything.
