what is the Red Company?

Where did you hear/read about them?

It's probably a mercenary regiment with red uniforms.

I believe the Spanish fielded them in Flanders during the 80 years war (or the Red Skirts actually, Catholic English Mercenaries I believe).

They featured in my home-brew WFRP campaign... HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS!?

For IG, "Red Company" is usually just the code-name of a company within a regiment, "Red Company", 1st Regiment Cadian Shock Troops for example. Also used for platoons: Red Platoon, Bravo Company, I/3d Catachan.
