So, there has been a lot of controversy over two thing about orbital strikes (we have a few regimental advisors and chapter masters.)
So we were wondering #1 do you have to stay stationary to order an orbital strike (for only one or both?),
and #2 Does the unit calling the strike have to have line of site to their target, or can another unit allied to the unit with the strike have the LOS?

If you walk a mile in another mans shoes you will be a mile away from him and you will have his shoes.

1. Chapter Masters have to remain stationary in the preceding Movement phase. Not sure about the other.
2. Since it counts as firing a ranged weapon using the OB profile and doesn't say anything about LoS, I'm pretty sure it requires LoS.

Orbital Bombardment? It's an Ordinance Barrage weapon, meaning it does not require LOS. The entry says that even if LOS is given, it still scatters the full 2d6"

You still need a fire point if embarked however

As an ORDNANCE BARRAGE it may not be fired if the firer moves, and doesn't require LOS, but as it is treated as the Master himself is firing it, he still needs to use a fire point if embarked because that is what the rules for embarked passengers shooting use.

True but remember you dont modify the scatter by his BS.

OH, I know that (I just don't use CMs in games outside of apoc).
The orbital strike ALWAYS scatters (just like the orbital strikes from the HS section of the 'Hunter codices.) because precise targeting from orbit is impossible due to the myopic targeting servitors.

It doesn't scatter if you roll a hit. At least for Chapter Masters.

If you give your chapter master terminator armor he gains relentless allowing him to move and fire heavy weapons. So wouldn't this allow you to move and fire the orbital strike?

It isn't a heavy weapon it's an ordnance barrage.

No. The rules for Orbital Bombardment are very clear. The Chapter Master must not have moved in the Previous movement phase, period. Bike, Terminator Armour or a Banana, nothing will let you move and fire an Orbital Bombardment. Automatically Appended Next Post: GMMStudios wrote:It isn't a heavy weapon it's an ordnance barrage.
That actually doesn't matter. There are no rules in the BRB for Infantry Shooting Ordnance. If it didn't specify how in the codex you would not be able to fire it at all Same situation for the SAK. It's an Ordnance 1 Weapon (so Rolls 2D6 Pick highest etc) but is treated as a Heavy 1 for movement and Shooting.
