Hey Guys

Not really a review, and not completely ranting, just my impressions!

Although I'm not a big Marine fan anymore, and currently own an Ultramarine (retired) army! I thought I'd buy the Codex to keep my eye into current WH40K affairs and see if I'm missing something

As it turns out, the miniatures displayed don't look that bad after all, of course, they still suffer from Dwarfism (refering to the fluff), and then you have the legs akimbo, and static posing so inherant in GW miniatures, but I was most impressed with the new heads.....I could use those elsewhere...

What did burn me a little though, was the general writing in the Codex, it seemed somewhat rushed. Reading through the fluff elements, stories and saga attributed to the Space Wolves would end abruptly with "and the Sons of Russ took the day"....or some such crap, indeed some stories and events were detailed in a paragraph!!!

WTF, the whole taking of the Space Wolf Strike Crusier by Huron is covered in a paragraph, where in the Chaos Codex its a whole two page essay!!!

You even being to forget the relevance of Russ as he is mentioned here and there, but in no detail at all.....in fact the Codex's handling of the events following the Heresy and the degree to which the Space Wolves detest the Codex is, at best, hinted at......no detail is given to Chapter size! And again, the rebelious nature of the Sons of Russ is hinted at, but not really explored.

I appreciate that the Codex isn't necessarily a history of the Space Wolves, even though it should be, but I have to say if I were thinking of starting a Space Wolves army this Codex would leave me out in the cold.

All in all, I'd say this Codex is about as good as the free-be Blood Angles one they tossed out a few years ago, and by no means inspires me to pump more money into their latest product line.

Other rants, why could they not redo key characters like Ragnar and Grimnar, why are we forced to use the same models from the last century?

So all in all, I'd say a lack-lustre offering, and confirms my notion that indeed I'm missing nothing

Man down, Man down....

Forever alone

They're a Space Marine sub-chapter. They don't need a very detailed codex.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I adore the new Space Wolves codex, and look forward to getting their new models soon. I will say that Ragnar Blackmane and Ulrik the Slayer could use a redo though. Logan, on the other hand, is still awesome.
