--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.”

Drove past that on my way to the the 'scony liquor stores. Laughed a bit, then bought my Everclear and proceeded to plan the succeeding night's festivities.

Nutters. It's reasonable to have a right to own a gun, but what would you need an assault rifle for?
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

In order to shoot people. Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyway if people want to have a party with guns I don't see a problem providing it doesn't go horribly wrong and end up with someone getting shot.
A bit like the scene in the train carriage in Predator 2.

OK so what's the big deal? They had a group of people show up to hear some speeches. It just happened that most of them showed up with sidearms. NO guns were discharged, the sidearms were legally displayed. No problem.

The thing about the Constitution, is that it was written when guns were accurate to about a foot and a half and carried one shot.
Now you have people carrying thirty shot assault rifles accurate to 200 metres.
When you have a major shoot up, you call for looser gun laws so you can protect yourselves. I just don't understand it.
Last massive shoot up we had was in '96. Gun laws were then tightened up to no end, and keep getting tighter. There are now magazine capacity limits, Bullet size limits, Length limits, No Semi Automatic pistols, revolvers are being phased out, no automatic anything.
What I am basically getting at, is the second ammndment is obsolete.

You can say that about any of the Bill of Rights. Fortunately only US citizens, and illegals, can change it. Not you.

I am aware of that, and I don't really care about what another country wants to do legally, I just don't understand why YOU don't change it.
But then I think that you have grown up with these laws, and have been told since infancy that these things are the only way to live.

Indeed. I've been raised to respect the Constitution and protect its rights. My family has been all about that since fleeing English and Russian dictators. Ok there was a minor kerfluffle in the 1860s but other than that we've generally been supportive of the Constitution.

You live in a country that appears to think freedom of speech is obsolete as well so... yeah, not really interested in your advice on our constitutional rights.
