I'm kind of on temporary burn out from my 3-D space hulk project so I was in the mood to model some guard stuff.

I had been thinking about picking up some of the pig iron guys to get cool rebreather troops but the idea hit me to convert some of my plastic cadian guards into Kasrkins as they look significantly meaner. I have a box of metal Kasrkins but I dislike the weight and why buy more squads when I have a couple squads of regular cadians that can take their place.

I wanted to pick up the cadian shock trooper heads from FW but my local bunker is always inshort supply of FW stuff and with such a small order and insane shipping prices it's not worth ordering direct from FW, then I realized I had rebreathers from the command squad and set about modifying.

Here's the metal figures for reference:

The lasguns needed modifying into hot guns, shorter range but AP3
Did some very fine cutting filing and these should stand in very well, the ammo clip will be removed and power cables made of guitar wire will be added.

Here's the start of the plastic Kasrkin, he's currently armed with my interpertaton of a hellgun, both arms need modification and part of the torso shaved down so it's all fit together. I'll be adding greenstuff to the legs to make the armor plates and styrene bits for the helmet sensors. I'll be using them as drop troops deploying from Valkyries so they'll all have rope coils in addition to their normal gear load out. The rebreather is from the command sprue and the visored head came from a sentinal driver who had his face carved away to accomidate the rebreather. The mask slots run vertically while the metal models have horizontal ones, not sure if I should leave it as is or fil it in with greenstuff and redo the slots.

That's looking pretty awesome, not gonna lie. Why are there two different hellguns though? The second one looks much more like a shotgun to me. The first is cool too though! Also, if you have the Kasrkin backpacks, why aren't you using the metal Kasrkin models? These aren't criticisms, as I really dig your work on this guy. Just curious is all.

I have a bunch of extra backpacks that I'd gotten back when GW used to have their bits service running, I disliked my guard guys having not backpacks so I ordered several squads worth and they've been sitting gatehring dust for the last couple years.

The super shotgun I did for kicks as the regular grenade launcher is pretty ugly IMO and figured I could do something with it.

The work really rather well. Needs some carapace armour added but these have huge potential to be awesome!

Cool conversions! I really like what you've done there. Very characterful and true to the reference material! Can't wait to see a full squad made up and painted!

I like! I'm thinking of doing something similar myself down the line when my army needs some elites choices - the Kasrkin and Stormtrooper models are absolute pish.
