Since flaming is a current topic, I wanted to clarify something.


I had a unit of flamers shoot at me , with a setup that looked like this:

X - my guys, Y's = flamers | = Terrain (blocking line of sight completely)

X||
X||||||| Y
X Y Y Y Y
X Y Y Y

So, I think the entire squad had flamers, or at least most of them.

If all the guys in that squad are within range with a visible enemy model, can they fire their flamer templates through their own squad?

I don't have the rulebook on hand at the moment, but IIRC blast markers may not be placed in a manner that also hits your own troops (scatter is another matter entirely). This probably also applyes to flammer templetes, as well.

That's correct. You can't put the template over you own models. So no firing through your own squad.

Indeed. This is why tactical Flamer placement is important.

It is also why Flamers out of Battlewagons make Burnas so much more killy

Aye, you can shoot non-template through your models cause you assume they move appropriately, but you can only move so much when the guy behind you has a flame-thrower!
So flamers should always be placed at the front and they'll usually be among the last to die, funny that.
But not as funny as BatGwar!'s new avatar.
