Salvaged the old Ashlynn project and reconstructed the model into this little lady. Body is from PP's IK Jhureen Hecate, face from Reaper's Sasha Dubois, additional bits and pieces all sculpted on.

Self-Assessment

Things I liked:

1. Face, goddamn I finally painted a face which looks decent from all angles. Previously, nearly all my faces looked okay from the front, but the moment you looked at the face at an angle, you started seeing odd lines and paint borders. Also managed finally get some highlights in on the eyes, now only have to work on painting coloured irises.

2. Hair, I'll admit I cheated and looked around online for a technique, but as my first attempt at blonde hair, I really like it.

Things I didn't like:

1. Colours, a little too bright for my liking. I thought of trying to do a very muted, "realistic" scheme, but somehow it all got lost halfway and I started slapping on the reds and golds. I need to exercise more control

2. Gem areas, I need to buy some proper brush-on gloss. Spraying into the can lid and applying it just isn't working right.

Comments and criticisms welcomed as always

on things like the back part of the skirt you had reat smoothness and blends but then on the front inthe free hand it looks a little more rush on the flowers. Try a few more intermediate layers on them Or some really solid blends. Also the skin is the only major detracting thing on her. Work on that a little otherwise I love the sword and the gem on the arm great job all around.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I agree that the freehanding could be a little smoother. I am having a real problem doing any blending it though, as at this point I was barely touching the model with even a 0000 brush.

With regards to the skin, I can't see what is wrong with it. In fact, I would say that I think the skin is the part of the model I like the best, since I actually did blend it and I didn't end up overpainting everything like I tended to previously.

I love the side view of the sword it is very dynamic and stunning. However, the bottom view of that same sword leave something to be desired I am not sure what but the wow effect completely goes away from the side view. I think the model is very well painted, minor things here and there but for the most part a very nice model.

@Zhetsuken

It's probably due to the fact that the sword is as thick as a cricket bat in proportion to the model, and that gives the lines a rather odd look. If only I could make a really thin blade, then the back-view would simply be a stripe of white rather than the odd hatched patten currently. Besides that I don't see how else I might improve on the sword, as the pattern itself looks odd when viewed from the wrong angle.

You live and learn I suppose...
