This may sound dumb, but I don't know who the omnisiah is. Other then the fact that he's some god type bloke that the Ad Mech worship I don't know much else about him (or is the omnisiah a she or an it?). I've flicked through all the imperial codexes to no avail, so wanted to know if you guys have a clue.

He's the Machine-god that the Adeptus Mechanicus worship. They believe that the Emperor is his avatar, and he does seem to have massive power over machine spirits.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

A Necron, they are on Mars after all and don't it seem a tad suspicious?
That there is a dormant tomb world there?

According to Lexicanum he's a combination of these. According to the prophecies of the Cult of the Machine (the Adeptus Mechanicus religion), the Omnissiah is a living avatar of the Machine God (which may or may not be the C'tan named Void Dragon that is entombed on Mars). Like the Messiah, get it? Many AdMechs consider the Emperor to be the Omnissiah because of the Great Crusade.

Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.

My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1

The Emperor (blessed be) fought the Void Dragon millenia before on Earth and transported him to the Noxis Labyrinth. There, the Dragons dreams filtered out into the first Martian colonists, giving them the knowledge of fantastic machines. So Druid is right, the Omnissiah is sort of both the Emperor and the Void Dragon.

That is awesome, where did you find that?

The HH novel Mechanicum plus it's been hinted at ad infinitum in anything relating to the Necrons and Mechanicus

To the Cult Mechanicus, machines represent a higher form of life than that created through biological evolution. The ultimate object of the cult's veneration is known as the Machine God (or the Deus Mechanicus), which is believed to have given rise to all technologies and made them manifest through his chosen illuminati among mankind. The Machine God may be the C'tan Void Dragon, who has been entombed on Mars for millennia and was worshipped by the Cult Mechanus before the rise of the Emperor.

The Cult Mechanicus await the arrival of the Omnissiah, a prophesied physical avatar of the Machine God. During the Great Crusade the forces of the Emperor liberated many of the forge worlds founded as colonies of Mars in ancient times. On his arrival at many of the worlds, the Cult Mechanicus recognised the Emperor as the long awaited Omnissiah.

Machine God =/= Omnisiah. The Omnisiah is the physical manifestation of the Machine God, but at the same time not the Macine God itself.

But, there are a few variations of their religion as well. Like the Cult of the Micro-Omnisiah. They believe that a part of the Machine God is in every machine and that the smaller the machine is the closer it is to reaching the Machine God.

So it is not cleanliness but Micro-Machines that are next to godliness? Galoob must be thrilled.

From what I've read on lexiconium it was in one of the HH books (which I have to read now)

There's a rumor that the 'machine god' is actually the Void Dragon, but when the Emprah showed up on mars they recognized him as the Omnisiah, so when they invoke the "Blessing of the Omnisiah" they are calling on the emperor of man, not the machine god.
Spoiler:
I want to reffrence real world religions here, because there are some parallels, as is expected, but I'm afraid to :(

Read Mechanicum.

Dark Lord Seanron is correct in that it's both the Emprah and the C'tan. HOWEVER, in Mechanicum it explains it more in detail on the two different belief systems and the split Mars went through. I won't go into detail because the book gives you all the answers...that, and it's not a bad read.
