What sizes do you use? Do you have any pics?

The size of the guitar string really depends on the project you're doing. Smaller model, thinner string. Bigger model, thicker string. I've found, however, that overall, .46 is a good width. It's what I used for my conversion of Mr. Angry (AKA Angron, pics below). What were you planning on using it on? That would probably help us guage what size you would probably want.

The one time I used Guitar string, I got it at Wal-mart for about half what they would cost in a music store, and just used the thickest one until it was gone, which was plenty. I found that you have to have it bent at the exact angle you want before you glue it into place, and that it will destroy your clippers unless you have some just for metal.

@Warpcrafter: clippers for metal are just called "wire-cutters".

I use the wire-cutter edge on my pliers for cutting guitar strings. Even cuts the steel strings without much effort.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I use whatever size my guitar playing friend snapped most recently.

Just a note of caution to everyone using guitar wire. If you're gluing down one end, bending it and then gluing down the other ... WEAR GOGGLES. I have had the fascinating experience of getting Zap a Gap in my eye due to a springing piece of guitar wire. Also, when cutting off short bits of wire, they like to go flying and once again have a special love for your tender little eyeballs.

You can also use solid-core wire bought from an electronics store. It bends much more easily and is less likely to spring loose and try and blind you. I tend to use electronics wire for most jobs, saving the guitar wire for things that need to resist bending, like radio antennas.

Men, I am not ordering you to attack. I am ordering you to die. In the time that it takes us to die, other forces and commanders can come and take our place.
