Ok so forgive me if this has been discussed already, but I was flipping through the new IG codex and noticed the lack of Gaunt.
Where's he hiding?

Vanished, is the Colonel-Commissar! As is his good friend Colonel Schaeffer.
I believe they are moving to eliminate characters that also feature heavily in novels. Marbo is, if I recall correctly, the only character that has ever shown up in a novel that is in the Imperial Guard codex.

But whyyy? I was just starting to get in to the GG novels 
I think if anything GW should strive to put more novel based characters in the codexes.
It's so much more fun to play a game when you know alot about the fluff.

Pure rumor and speculation here; I think that they're working up to releasing a codex for the Tanith. Possibly, they'll make some plastic Tanith for extra profit.
Then again, I'm not holding my breath.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can. |

The rules for Gaunt are pretty easy too find.
1st up, get a Commissar Lord.
2nd, give him power sword and camo-cloak.
3rd, name him 'Gaunt'.
And hey Presto!
