One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm

Quick question. I think I know the answer, but you never know if there is a small rule written somewhere else ... if you know what I mean .
Dreadnought in a drop pod.
Drop pod ... drops. Dreadnought comes out. He is relentless so he can fire his weapons.
Can he assault?
The description of drop pod says no (any unit cannot assault the same round as arriving) ... but is there a dreadnought specific rule hidden away which says you can assault?

Nope. Can't assault. It's made clear in the deep strike rules.
He can shoot or run.
But....
There is a new drop pod with rules from Forge World called the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod that does allow a dreadnought to assault the turn he lands. It's completely optional. No opponent has to let you use it.

Sadly no, which sucks for my ironclad. Unless you want to use the forgeworld one like Arsch suggested I usually just pop smoke & hope I last until next turn.

GW puts out nice plastic pods so FW has to create the Lucius pod to give people a reason to buy their overpriced resin model.

But the only resin pod left is the special dreadnought pod. It only has three doors and no storm bolter. It is very, very special. Everyone with a dreadnought should have one even if you never get to use the Lucius Pattern rules for it.

This is also true.

And I heard if from my uncle who knows a guy in Shreveport who used to know a guy that drove a UPS truck with GW stuff on it one time that the Lucius Pattern Pod will be an option for Death Company Furiosos in the next BA codex.

Knowing how difficult it is to produce Resin models of high quality (the casts break down very, very quickly, and have a high failure rate when in the moulds) I always hesitate to call FW "Over priced"
In comparison to a plastic kit resin always seems expensive, but htere are things you can do with it you still cant do in plastic....
Oh yeah, rules - erm, Lucius pattern FTW!

Damn i just had this same question. I played in an Apocolypse game last weekend and on turn one a salamanders player droped a drop pod with a dreadnaught in it right next to my Monolith and Wrecked it the same turn in close combat. I said he couldnt do it but he assured me he could because it was open topped. i didnt argue because i wasnt sure of any special salamander rules or anything. wish i would have challanged it but oh well. i know better next time now.

Drop pod rules specify that occupants/passengers CANNOT assault the turn they land.
Even in apoc, your mate was cheating. Which is kind of like cheating at the special olympics.
The Lucius pattern is the exception (because of its assault vehicle rule).
