Alright, here's the deal. I'm planning a Space Wolf list, and for it I need 27 terminators armed with power weapon/storm bolter. What is the best way to go about this? Normal terminator boxes come with the storm bolters that I need, but only 1 power weapon. I would bits order them, but they tend to be pretty expensive, $3 or so per. I know I may have to end up biting the bullet and just bits ordering all the power weapons, but I was wondering if first anyone had any brilliant ideas of how to get many terminator power weapons.

Kitbash. Remember that a power weapon is really any melee weapon that's been painted to look shinier. Grab whatever swords, glaives, axes, and maces you can get your hands on and convert them on.

I second that. I've had great luck using High Elf bits for my Eldar and I imagine you could find some great weapons using WHFB bits.

Start with one of the aforementioned weapons, cut a little box from left over sprue, glue it to the side of the blade, then add a snip of guitar wire running from the box to the model's arm and !poof! instant power weapon.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Getting blades is not the problem.

The problem is getting blades that fit on terminators. You need a whole terminator arm that can hold a weapon. If they made empty clenched fist left terminator arms that I could bits order easily I'd be all over that, but I have yet to find any.

So the real issue is finding the arms for the power weapons, the power weapons themselves are a lesser issue.

Forever alone

Chaos Terminators.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Why not get the Wolf Guard terminators kit...?

They come with storm shields (arms with no hands - separate shields). And the hand-less arms are on the 'left' arm of the mini, making the right arm free for the storm bolter arms!

I think the Wolf Guard Terminator leader also comes with a right handed power ax and a left handed power sword.

I am well aware of the existence of chaos terminators. They come with 2 power axes (with chaos faces on the blades) and 1 power mace. These are an inferior alternative to bits ordering power swords as they cost more, and require converting to de-chaosify.

Wolf Guard Terminators come with 1 axe/thunderhammer and 1 sword. This isn't a good deal at all.

Alright, except I need 0 more chain fists, 0 more power fists, 0 more storm bolters, 0 more lightning claws, 0 more thunder/shields, and 0 more asscannon/heavy flamer. This leaves me with 2 usable weapons. No dice.

An inderesting idea, but the problem remains that I need the arm for the weapon to be held in, and that means a terminator arm.

The storm shield arms are just the arms with the hands molded to the shield, correct? If so you can use that arm and get some bits holding blades with the hands still attached. Or marine hands and attach a blade to them and attach that to the storm shield arm. That's pretty much the only thing I can think of aside from ordering or trading for the bits.

Yeah, honestly at this point I've gone over all the possibilities concerning terminator parts, I was just hoping that someone might have some out of the box insight that would be workable. I'll have to end up bits ordering a whole lot of weapons, it seems like.

How about the old Space marine hands? Those that were used to hold everything in the good old days? Cut one from the [joint in the middle of the arm, what's the word?] and do the same for a termie's arm. Add glue and GS. Or you could use old plastic Chaos warriors with a bit of filing. I used both for my CSM Termies.

Forever a pone.

Elbow?
That's an interesting thought, I'll have to see how normal marine arms match up to terminator arms, normal marine power swords are usually half the price of terminator versions. If I could manage to convert a power fist arm into a power sword arm by cutting off the whole fist and replacing the arm after the elbow then this wouldn't be too hard.

That would work...ish. The normal marine has a little bit smaller hand.
If that doesnt look right, just cast the one arm how ever many times you need it. Done and done

I should probably do that - it would be a major cost saving. I just checked, and a marine hand holding a sword is actually a pretty good match for the equivalent termy hand. It won't work for converting power fist or lighning claw arms, as you need the 'normal' termy forearm, but I think I have enough of those.
