Hi guys,

So I know that IC may attach to and detach from a unit by moving within 2" during the movement phase.

My questions is can a unit attach to an IC by moving within 2" of the IC? Can a unit joined to a IC detach from the IC during the movement phase? It is a subtle but important difference and has cropped up a few times when manuavering squads.

I looked in the INAT and didn't see anything there.

Yes.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

All you have to do is end the movement phase out of unit coherency with the IC... and ta da... they aren't a unit anymore.

The first question: An IC can end up joining a unit because the unit moved closer to the IC. So, yes, a unit can cause an IC to join it.
The second question: No, it's not possible for the unit to move and leave the IC behind without the IC counting as moving. As long as the IC is part of a unit, it must obey coherency, and all of the clauses which allow an IC to leave a unit require the IC to move.

The only exception I can think of is disembarking from a vehicle, where there is explicit allowance for an IC to be left behind by a disembarking squad.
